Then why didn't somebody take him?

Remember, we're not the only ones to make that decision. Given how talented everybody knows Gordon can be, do you really think 31 teams would pass on him if there wasn't something they were afraid of?

That’s what everyone said when he went to NE. For 500k, not guaranteed, what is the risk. League could call tomorrow and you go get another. He passed his physical. What’s next? Why would SEA bother at all.

Because he's friends with Russell Wilson.

The Patriots definitely aren't stupid, and they're probably less afraid of risk than any other team in the league.

If they don't want you, I have serious questions.

That sounds great as a motivational quote.

In reality, the vast majority of the teams in the NFL aren't stupid. If they're passing on a guy, there's usually a reason.

If you want to further explanation, I would say ask all of the teams that won a Super Bowl with Terrell Owens on their roster.

Only one problem with that...

There aren't any.

Just how every teams passed on Lamar Jackson cause they thought they were right ? Just how dumb Chicago passed on Deshaun Watson?

Group think in the league is real, it's talked everytime a player slips thru the cracks.

Orlando Brown is one of the more recent examples. He had a bad combine, came off a touch lazy to the surprise of many and dropped because people ignored the tape since his combine was that bad.

He's been shutting up every team and scout that dropped him on something other than tape ever since

I’m sure Wilson is his only friend in the NFL.

Still missed the risk in all that on our part? NE played Gordon. Moncrief lasted a game and a half before being benched. Same price. One makes contested catches. The other looks like he’s playing volleyball.

Why is Gordon a bigger risk? At least if he screws up, it will be mid-week via a letter. Moncrief will be costing us game’s by throwing a passes to DBs.

Chicago making a dumb decision in one instance doesn't equal everyone making dumb decisions every time.

Likewise, teams didn't completely pass on Lamar Jackson. They just didn't take him in the first round.

And we're not exactly talking about a guy with no red flags in his history here. Gordon missed entire seasons because he cared more about weed than he cared about getting paid.

Putting yourself in a position to depend on somebody who's proven themselves to be undependable in the past is a risk. Obviously, several teams thought It was too much of a risk.

We'll see.

He passed his physical. Doesn’t seem like the league has any issues ATM and I’m sure SEA checked. And one team claimed Moncrief. One team claimed Gordon. No difference. So why sign the guy that hasn’t done anything good all year?

Why sign the guy being benched by a playoff contender team that desperately needs WRs.

Good question.

Maybe looking slow on the field, being a locker room issue, having the same skill set as DJ Moore/Samuel..

While Moncrief at least brings something different to the table (height), now that he is over his finger injury, while having familiarity with the Panthers WR coach.

How many times have we seen people proclaim that we'd regret not going after Josh Gordon only to have that followed up by his being suspended again?

You can't look solely at the on-field side of it. Sure, you can say "oh he's learned his lesson now and that won't happen again". Yeah, there was somebody saying that every time he got suspended before. and somebody said the same thing about Justin Blackmon, Titus Young, and numerous others.

This is my point exactly . A lot of great prospect get passed on cause of media and in house voices . Look at the tape it doesn’t lie ever

    • This is factually incorrect. He was a two time Pro Bowler with the Rams and in fact statistically he was better with the Rams in his best season there than he has been with the Lions(could change with this season). Some of his per game stats have creeped into being marginally better with the Lions but there have not been dramatic differences in his play, actually. The biggest reason that McVay and he ended up splitting was McVay didn't think he could win a title with Goff. TBH.....so far he was 100% correct. Stafford almost immediately won them a SB and Goff in a historic run was about 70% of the reason the Lions faltered in the NFC championship game. He missed critical throws all over the first half and throughout the second half that he normally wouldn't. He choked. So, until Goff actually does win a SB...McVay has been right.
    • they have the best defense they've had in a long time...probably the best in the reid/mahommes era.  but i think they are probably the most beatable they've been in a while as well. record doesn't exactly bear that out, but they just don't look as strong on offense as they usually do. lots of reasons for that, like trying to build chemistry with newer receivers, but right now they just aren't as frightening as they typically are. i mean they'll probably win tomorrow, but i don't see them as the strongest team in the AFC right now.
    • He will likely remain unsigned the remainder of this season(barring someone being in a pure QB panic AND making poor decisions) largely due to the cost. I do think he will get multiple offers to be a backup QB and perhaps a couple to potentially start this offseason.  I will continue to beat the same horse over and over.....he should go to a successful team with an established starter. If I were him, go to somewhere like SF, LAR, etc. Somewhere with a successful QB coach and brilliant offensive mind and ALSO a set situation at QB. Ride the pine and adjust for a year or two. Chill and be around better culture. I would suggest the same for Bryce but he will be limited to wherever we can trade him.
