See I'm not nearly enough of a film analysis and breakdown guy, but I have this sneaking suspicion/idea. We're all in love with how amazing Luke is at diagnosing pre snap. I wonder if part of Shanahan's game plan might have involved knowing this, taking it into account, and then using misdirection specifically to try to fool Luke based on what you know he's seen on tape of you. If you're Shanahan and your run game is built on misdirection anyway, wouldn't this be a great way to go about attacking the Panther's D? Get their own MLB moving them out of position based on feeding him misleading pre snap looks?

I have zero proof or evidence, it's just kind of this notion that has been floating around in my head that might help explain why they seemed to absolutely destroy what has been an otherwise pretty solid D.

This is exactly what happened in the SF game. Luke was constantly in the wrong lane or out of position. This is why the SF game is not as big a deal as us fans make it out to be. Kyle learned to do that when he was with Atlanta. If our Linebackers would play their assignments and not diagnose the play it would have been a closer game. If you watch the SF game and see Luke throwing his hands in frustration, that’s Kyle working on Luke.

I have to confess that the second half the of the SF game was some of the only Panthers football I have not watched since we drafted Cam. It was obvious after the first half they completely had our number, and I just didn’t want to wallow in misery, but I saw plenty of what you’re referring to before halftime unfortunately.
