Current NFC Standings (Its not Pretty)

If the playoffs started today we'd be the 8th seed.

  • 1. 49ers 8 - 0  (5 - 0 conference) (NFC WEST DIVISION LEADER) (1 SEED)
  • 2. Saints 7 - 1 (5 - 1 conference)  (NFC SOUTH DIVISION LEADER) (2 SEED)
  • 3. Packers 7 - 2 (4 - 1 conference) (NFC NORTH DIVISION LEADER) (3 SEED)
  • 4. 8. Cowboys 4 - 3 ( 3 - 2 conference)  (NFC EAST DIVISION LEADER) (4 SEED)
  • 5. Seahawks 7 - 2 (4 - 1 conference) (5th SEED)
  • 6. Vikings 6 - 3 ( 5 - 2 conference)  (6th SEED)

  • On the Outside  Looking In...

  • 7. Rams 5 - 3 ( 3 - 3 conference) (with head to head tiebreaker over Panthers) (7th SEED)
  • 8. Panthers 5 - 3 (2 - 3 conference )  (8th SEED)
  • 9. Eagles 5 - 4 (3 - 4 conference)  (9th SEED)
  • 10. Lions 3-4-1 (2-2-1 conference) (10th SEED)

Getting off to a bad start in the NFC has left almost ZERO room for error. We pretty much have to beat the Packers if we even want to sniff the playoffs wc spot.

just went through the remainder of CAR, MIN, LAR, SEA schedules... [legit teams fighting for the WC spots]

looks like the Rams will easily take the 1st WC spot.. MIN and SEA and CAR could all end up with a 10-6 record and tiebreakers will come into effect.. I have us splitting with NO because they might be resting starters come week 11..

the point im making is looking at who's in front of us, we have almost no room for error in terms of losing more NFC contests.

So the key is to keep winning?

winning eliminates all errors.  13-3 should win 1st or 2nd seed right?

Rams are not that good.  They could end up 9-7

people are saying its mid season whatever..

I'm looking at the standings and this Green Bay game looks like all or nothing

If we only lose one game the rest of the way, we are certainly making the playoffs.  We are likely to make the playoffs even if we lose two (but depends how the other games fall out).  But I can't help but worry if we have to sweep both ATL and NO because no matter how bad a division rival's record is, those games are always rough, and we are going to need to if we lose to GB.

edit: it seems like it is possible even if we go 5-3 we could make the playoffs if the rest of the NFC slumps a little.  They might, too... GB and MN didn't look nearly as good today...

Lots of teams will make lots of errors.  Last year at this time, we were solidly in according to most experts.

To early to worry about what other teams are doing.  If we get to 11 wins, we will be in.  10 wins is always dicey.

If the freaking Bucs don’t blow another one the Packers, Vikings AND Hawks all lose today. It’s an uphill battle but anything is possible, we have a defense capable of keeping us in games and a qb who for the most part makes good decisions with the ball. Will need other players besides  CMC to make plays .

    • I respect his enthusiasm. Time will tell if it's warrented.
    • Oh I went off and fully entertained my wife last night as my emails go to her phone as well because of my health. So she got the whole conversation as it happened.    Like I went to games in Detroit for the cup finals, I've been to games in Greensboro, Raleigh, and Chicago as well. My mom and her nurse friend double dated one of the players from when the team was in Greensboro. "He's still with the team in some compacity as well." I know people who work for the team at the arena as well. How the hell would I not be considered a fan. Only reason I haven't gone to a game since 2022 is because of my health and money situation. Last game I went to was at United Center in Chicago and me and my wife spent around 1k for glass seats and some food at the arena and we were next to the penalty box. The pictures of the hurricane players I took are lost because my phone crapped out a few weeks later.
    • The Falcons win was a fantastic way to end the season and I think just about every Panthers fan would agree the team the coaching staff and particularly Bryce Young were impressive. We really needed that. Credit where it's due. At the same time. Now we have to establish it wasn't just a flash in the pan. We had one of those earlier in the season against the Raiders. As a tortured Panthers fan I have to acknowledge that. I know you're joking but in all seriousness I don't think the QB sneak is something for us to be concerned about in general but I would be lying to myself if I did not acknowledge that looking back at one particular game last season where we continually trotted out Eddie Pinero on 4th and short on the opponents side of the field we could use some creativity in those situations and it's also a matter of predictability. As time goes on it's something for Canales to work on and figure out. Especially with our kicker situation as it stands.
