I wonder how we started 0-2 if Kyle Allen has zero talent and it’s all CMC. Ever think the reason we can’t throw a deep ball is that teams are having to cover it and can’t double cover CMC anymore? It is entirely possible to support Allen without being against Cam or racist.  It’s called being a fan of the team rather than just a particular player. Please stop feeding into this overly simplified narrative that has led to a largely pointless debate here for over a month.

If you are implying it will happen if Rivera is canned, there is almost no chance that happens, at least not next year.  Cam is not tied to Rivera.  They will let him finish out the last year of his contract to see what they have.  

Unless Kyle Allen starts averaging 400 yards a game, and leads us to post season success, Cam will be back with or without Rivera.

As long as CMC keeps running at a NFL MVP level, defense keeps playing at a top tier level, and WRs beat press getting open for those short passes for Allen.

 

This can be a good team.

This is what we call a false choice.

The reality looks more like this:

Healthy QB > Injured QB.

CMC is playing at an MVP level and should not be discounted because of point 1. 

The Defense is forcing takeaways and getting pressure -- we saw what happened in SF when the defense did not perform well.

Not tying it to Rivera or Allen at all.

I'm basing it strictly on Newton's age, health and cap hit.

I don't believe it's as guaranteed as you think, especially not if he doesn't return this year.

I'd also point out that while Deion is being kind of bombastic here, she's not the only person making that sort of speculation. Joe Person, among others, has been questioning Newton's future for a while now.

Not bad at all. However, when you look a little deeper you'll notice Kyle Allen is:

11 TDs/1 INT & 6-0 vs. teams with a losing record. Impressive.

2 TDs/3 INTs & 1-1 vs. teams with a winning record. Not so impressive.

So we can't start coming to the "Kyle Allen is our future QB" conclusion just yet.

Ron deserves an extension. I hope most people can see now that he is doing great.

So far, Allen has done well.  He bounced back after a horror show against the 49ers, and bounced back from a pick early on Sunday.  Those are very encouraging signs.  He made some big boy throws on Sunday, which is what every team needs to be successful.  He also somehow held on to the ball during a sack that looked like it easily could have popped out.  Allen is putting in the work.

Sunday going to GB versus one of the greats of our age, where the rest of his team is playing well.  Allen is going to have to continue to make big boy plays though out the game.  He'll also need a lot of help from our defense and special teams like he's been getting.  Oh, and CMC...

Allen has been producing, which is incredibly important.  He's showing growth, he's making plays, and he's keeping it cool.  Green Bay is one of the best teams in the NFL, so this is going to be yet another HUGE test.
