What does this game mean for the Panthers

Panthers get a win against a team we probably should’ve beaten. Kyle rebounds from the 9er loss and the defense does also. The team doesn’t fold like many here thought they might.

does the win change your mind about where the season is going or is it just a win against a mediocre team

I like that they either had Allen throw deep early or he looked for the deep ball early this game. Even if he didn't always connect, as a young qb still developing, that is obviously a weakness he needs to work on and I felt like today he worked on it without hurting the team.

I still think our run D is very suspect and does not pass the eye test. Fortunately as tough as Green Bay is, that isn't really our main concern going into next week. Let's see if we can get after Rogers and steal one. If we aren't competitive in this next game, I have grave doubts about where we will shake out the rest of the season as our schedule gets tougher. Even if we lose, if we are in it, then we might at least have a shot. Today doesn't tell me much other than last week didn't shatter us like Pittsburgh did last year.

5 - 1 with backup QB. Give Ron a 5 year extension please.

Have to disagree. I think Ron has shown that he has some strengths as a HC, but that his weaknesses match up poorly against top teams/top coaches. At the end of the day we're in year 8 of the Rivera era in Carolina and with a franchise qb who has won MVP and a generational talent at MLB, his record is average. No better, no worse. With the talent this team has atm, it's time to look for a coach who can take us beyond average.

It means that the season is clearly not over. It means that the team has a big opportunity to win a big road game next week in Green Bay. It means that the team employs a running back  on a historic run. It does not mean that Kyle Allen is infallible. It does not mean that Ron Rivera deserves a four year extension. It’s one game, and it’s a big win. Let’s take it one week at a time, and then add them up the end. Almost impossible in the digital age, I know. But it’s my approach. It certainly enhances the experience.

Case Keenum took the Vikings to within one game of the Super Bowl a couple of years ago. A broken down Peyton Manning won a Super Bowl against this very team. Those quarterbacks had remarkable complementary pieces around them. Kyle Allen has the same right now. I’m happy with the work he has done, all things considered.

As a know "Allen Hater" I can fully agree with everything said in this post. You spoke nothing but the truth here.

I wish we had a healthy version of 2015 Cam Newton this season with our offensive weapons...  But it is phenomenal we don't need a QB to carry our team like that.  I hope that if Cam can return this year, he too can benefit, but man, I am just glad that our backup is playing well enough and improving most weeks.
