What is Kyle Allen’s ceiling?

Yeah I guess it is a multi-million dollar question at some point. He definitely has a very long NFL career in front of him.

He is 23...his upside is good but no dominant traits.  As a backup he is damn good though.

I don’t believe in “ceilings.” Every single player can keep on getting better and better and better. Even with physical limitations a player could be the best in the league by mastering the fine points of the game better than anyone and studying film for their position.

Not a huge arm but pretty accurate. Can make quick reads. Not a pro bowler but is capable of winning with a good team around him.

Pennington wasn’t a bad QB. I mean for a UDFA I’d take it.

He'll never be a pro bowl talent, but certainly good enough to serve a playoff team. Now winning playoff games...idk. needs a better deep ball and another year or two of experience. He's young and people forget that. Given time and consistency within a system, I see him developing nicely.

But Allen more willing to take the shots.

Agreed. He was solid. Probably never a top 10 QB in the league at any point but never really a bottom 10 starter either

Nick Foles until he develops a deep ball. We’re just lucky to be playing shitty teams every other week, but the good teams will neutralize the 10-15 yards plays and dare him to beat them over the top. Once (if) he gets there he’s a bonafide starter for sure. 
 

Like Cam, the pocket awareness and audibles will come with time.

Just don't think he'll get to THAT level. Not gonna be in the top 5 in yards or TDs. Gonna be a guy who is always just out of the top 10 conversation that people will gladly take if they have nobody but not a dominant QB. That's fine. The league is mostly those kinds of QBs.

With a really good defense and offensive line he could be really good in the right system.  He is a System QB and if you know that's what you got there's nothing wrong with that

I just like that he’s not scared to throw it down field. Too many of these young QBs are afraid to play the game. There’s nothing inspiring about Clausen style football.

Until I see a real Cam deep ball or at least his legs moving, no difference from our current starter.
