What is Kyle Allen’s ceiling?

I've compared him to a non-mobile version of Tyrod Taylor. Pocket presence, looks for the check downs, good balls on short to intermediate routes but the deep ball is nothing to write home about.

I think Allen is a QB that can win us games that we should win. I just have doubts that he can win those "must win" games that is the differece between going 8-8 and heading to the playoffs. Green Bay will be another test for him to see how he plays in those situations.

I don’t believe in “ceilings.” Every single player can keep on getting better and better and better. Even with physical limitations a player could be the best in the league by mastering the fine points of the game better than anyone and studying film for their position.

This player has a name.

You already know it.

Jerry Rice.

I think Allen has a very high ceiling given that this kid is only 23 years old and continues to show improvement. Completion percentage wise today, Allen looked just average. But... I saw some pretty impressive passes from him today. The touchdown pass to Samuel as he was getting hit and throwing off his back foot was a big time NFL type throw. He actually had touch on that ball, he put it up high where Samuel could go up and get it at its highest point. When you're getting hit like that you try to place the ball at a point that is hard for the DB to get to, and he did just that, Samuel did the rest, as a good WR should. Another big time throw was the toss to Moore where he juggled it at the one yard line and the officials initially called it incomplete. Did you see how Allen placed the ball just over the DB's fingers with still enough room to keep it inbounds? That was beautiful ball placement. He did the same thing on a deep pass to Samuel with 2:30 left in the first quarter on the right sideline. Allen has good touch on the ball, he has an ability to put the ball in tight spaces just over the reach of leaping DB's and Safeties finding spots in the zone to throw it. That's HUGE for a 23 year old kid at this level. His interception wasn't really on him, if you go back and look at the film the ball got tipped, plus Wright should have tried to catch the ball with both hands. He didn't jump that high, he just tried to jump and tip it to himself. If he had used proper technique and went up with both hands he would have caught the ball. In his defense, the ball was tipped which made the ball wobbly and changed the trajectory, buy hey, that stuff happens.  Also, during the play where the Titans sacked Allen in which he was at the top of his throw with his arm when he got drilled... He held onto the ball, did not fumble! That's more film on him showing improvement. Allen is improving every week, the little things are there if you really look. His ceiling is just stupid high at this point, his WR core is as young as him and both Moore AND Samuel have BIG play making potential, they're both HR hitters. I truly believe that if our OL can give Allen time he will build a playmaking rapport with our WR core... Stay tuned folks. We have great young talent on this team, we SHOULD be excited honestly.

He looked really good today. Showed nice arm strength, accuracy, touch. Tennessee has a good D too. I’m glad to see them all bounce back.

I totally agree with you... At this point the coaches are not asking him to do too much, but he continues to show improvement if you really look. Those big passes just over the leaping outstretched hands of the DB's on na few big plays shows his touch. And when he took that huge sack where he was in the middle of his throwing motion and did not fumble, shows you that the kid is making it a point to improve. 50% of QB's would have fumbled that ball, the fact that Allen didn't,  and that it was an early issue for him should show everyone that this kid is learning at an accelerated rate. We have two young playmaking WR's he is building rapport with. Do not be shocked when Allen starts connecting with these guys on a regular basis. We have the run game to keep the defenses we face honest and Allen has most definitely shown that he can put the ball in tight windows. Allen has a certain "moxie' about him, he seems very cerebral as a QB, and the Panthers run game is obviously good enough to where he does not have to be Brett Favre like this year. Heck, he's sooo young, almost a rookie, how can you not like what you see so far?

If the Titans defense could catch this could have been a 4 pick day for Allen. He threw a little over 50%, and was short on practically every deep ball.

Without Christian we lose this game by two touchdowns.

If he can build trust in his OL, and they can protect him, he will get better at those deep throws. A couple of those throws were sooo close. There was one bomb to Samuel that was RIGHT there, it was a good throw, the DB just made a great play... it happens. If they just keep letting him pull the trigger and he gets time, just watch, it will happen!

I do t think he is destined to be a world beater but could be wrong. That said he has demonstrated the ability to manage games, win games, and grow to mask his weaknesses.  If he can do this he will have a nice long career in the league.  Might not be starter material but could stick and may end up with a nice nest egg once all is said and done.

wishing him the best.
