Nothing wrong with being excited about Allen, but the point was there are people that will show up out of nowhere to join the QB argument.  What bothers me is when people say "Cam hasn't made a throw like that EVERRRR" for.... relatively simple throws :P and it happens a lot.

And anyway, we know far more about Cam than Allen.  But the most important piece we don't know is when he'll be back and how he'll play when he does.  Allen has a lot more unknowns about him since he is such a young player.  Hopefully he continues to develop.

Goes back to a point I made elsewhere...

Is a nine year veteran better than a guy who's just started six games? Of course he is. But who's better right now isn't the only consideration. You have to try and predict who's going to be better next year, the year after, the year after, etc. And what makes that incredibly tricky is that you have to do it without the benefit of guarantees.

You can't guarantee that the young player is going to continue to improve. Unfortunately, you also can't guarantee that the veteran player is going to stay healthy. That's even more true when he hasn't been able to do so for a couple of years now. Heck, for that matter you can't even guarantee that the young player isn't going to get hurt at some point, especially not with an offensive line like we have.

Oh and by the way, there's several million dollars riding on that decision, not to mention your reputation and career.

Good luck.

It's amazing how many people can't see that. He's a good backup.. That's all. If we want to be 7-9 every year, we should keep him around. But I'd like to win a super bowl. Hopefully Tepper wants to win one

You feel like you can definitively say, six games into a player's career, everything that he's ever going to be?

There are professional coaches and talent evaluators who wouldn't say that.

I like when Panthers players play well.

I don't like when Panthers players play poorly.

Other than that , I really don't care about much else. Not interested in supporting any player over the team.

It's genuinely that simple.

I'd add that there is no scenario I can think of where Kyle Allen playing really well would be a bad thing for the team.

I have no idea whether that's going to happen, but it truly is something we should all hope for.

"But people were over hyping him after we were winning as a team and now I need to tear him down! How dare they pull at my heartstrings with good play and wins thinking we could have a path after Cam.  Need to make sure everyone knows he's nothing after a loss!"

The combative nature of the situation is silly ma fretters.

Agreed. It's bout' them Panthers as a team.  We played poorly last week, hopefully better this week.

It's both convenient and musing how abruptly the hype train derailed and now we're back to the "I'm a Panthers fan first" posts.

A blowout loss swings the pendulum.  When you win, you poo rainbows.  When you're losing, you just poo, it's loose and goes everywhere.  Need that hard stool of a foundation; people want that.  Get back to the team.  Vitamins, fiber, protein.  It should always be about the team.  The hype train wasn't separate from that.

The QB position is only one of several largely looming concerns.

Personally I am more eager to see what the defense looks like against the Titans. This is a franchise centered around stout defense. That's been our identity for years. If we keep getting gashed in all phases defensively it's time for a culture change beginning at the very top.

Have you missed his entire career. People have been saying crap since day one. Now they will move on to Allen with Newton being out indefinitely.

Agreed.  You win with a stout D.  Ours was gashed last week.  Better come out ready and climb to 5-3.

I think the most for sure thing I see happening is the staff changes if last week spirals into a greater tumble.

There are people here who have never played football at any competitive level, so they don't understand team dynamics in football, much less the game itself from an X's and O's standpoint. They rely on numbers alone and generally have no clue what the hell they're talking about. Don't listen to them.

The tape has been evident on Allen. He's not a world beater, but he's a solid player who is going to keep you out of trouble more often than not. Last week, I said it to a buddy that Allen was just pressing. He didn't look the same. I don't think he got flustered too badly by SF, but he certainly got in his own head and was trying to make something happen, even if it wasn't there (sorta like Cam has done several times, but don't let the Cam fans hear that).

Cam is likely done. He'll have to come out and prove next season that he's worth top QB money. And if we somehow make the playoffs with Allen at QB and even win a playoff game, Cam may not get that chance here. And before anybody says that that is ridiculous, everybody swore Cam was close to getting back on the field and we now know that Cam hasn't been recovering well.

    Now for what actually happened.

The people who don’t know football, as you stated, just kept throwing W-L record, QB rating, and comp% out there. Whenever anyone tried to break anything down that showed any sort of flaws that might become a problem were trashed beyond belief.

Would someone please post a list of things we are allowed and not allowed to say about Allen. At this point, anything that isn’t 100% positive gets another “poor Kyle” thread. He might be good, or bad. But if you think that people can’t state their opinions of what is happening.on the field, WTF are we doing here?

This is what happens when poo rolls downhill from a clickbait agenda.

I don’t understand why people can’t support both qb’s. Why does it have to be hate Cam or hate Kyle? Both of them play for the freaking Panthers, one is a former MVP and the best qb Carolina has ever had, the other is a UDFA who we knew nothing about and has gone 4-1 this year.

If you’re a real Panther fan stop your bitching and hope that whoever is playing does well.
