Honestly, that happens all the time.

Teams care a lot less about looking bad than they do about paying someone who's too hurt to contribute. And by that point, Newton will already have spent significant time either playing hurt or not playing at all.

It’s not about appreciation, you shouldn’t take a grown man’s athlete career personally. It’s about business. It’s a lot more complicated than do you think he’ll heal and play 100% again. It’s do you bet years of progression of the franchise on it after essentially losing two already?

3 seasons? Cam was on the way to another MVP a year ago. People exaggerate.

lastly, I doubt very seriously Cam is delusional. He hasn’t acted delusional, didn’t max us out anywhere close his first contract, and he could have.

people forget when his last contract came up, there were plenty lesser quarterbacks who got paid more and his peers with no records or “curb appeal” got way way more.

everything he has displayed is about winning and doing what’s right for the team to win.

It will be a very team friendly deal.

You like any QB on the roster or in the draft better than Cam? And don’t say Tua cuz he won’t be there. Keep in mind the same injury basically cost Greg Olsen a season and many here wanted him replaced too, didn’t happen for good reasons. 
 

Yes Cam is an unknown going forward but so is anyone else. The team isn’t committed to Cam long term contract wise. No reason to not let him play out his contract and see where he’s at. This season is the sacrifice for a healthy Cam. You let him go then it’s for nothing.

Unless Cam decides to retire, he will be here next season.  Almost no chance we cut him, new coach or not.  They will give him a year to see what he can do, and at the end of 2020, will make a decision on whether to try and resign him or let other teams grab him.
