lol god damn this place is full of morons. Talking to a bunch of people who don’t possess an athletic bone in their body.

If you’re talking about the best WR’s to play, yes, Julio’s name gets brought up, period.

Saying it belligerently doesn't make you correct.  He likely wouldn't make the top 10 of people with insight and perspective.

Doesn't make the top 35 of Gil Brandt. http://www.nfl.com/photoessays/0ap3000000816078/gil-brandt's-greatest-nfl-receivers-of-all-time

There are lot's of athletic morons and even more keyboard idiots.

89 never met a young WR that he didn't want to rip.

No one ever worked as hard, wanted to win as much, or was as good as 89.  Don't believe it?  Just ask 89.

True

But he does have a point.

For us going away from the slower bigger guys who couldn't seperatelike KB and Funchess, to bring in guys that could.  Theyve REALLY struggled to create seperation this.  Smitty isnt the only national person to point this out.

Effort- guys Have given up on routes

Plus CBs have easily shut them down this year.  Yes the OL has been bad but there has been a Ton of coversge sacks as well.  Which should be happening with the Athletic type, "good route running" WRs, especially in aa scheme like Norvs where he is getting the ball out quick

Wow-  “moron” who doesn’t agree with you. Would that make you a “moron” that doesn’t agree with me?

and as far as athletic bone—  what professional sports have you played?

I just typed in “best NFL receivers”

none of them mentioned Julio Jones.

Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss, Larry Fitzgerald, Terrell Owens et al.

Julio has a lot of yards but he doesn’t catch touchdowns and he’s not a factor of causing his team to win.

Randy Moss took over games— was uncoverable. Jerry Rice took over games—

Hell— Antonio Brown is much better— Antonio actually gets mentioned in some top 10 lists.

julio doesn’t. Sorry

lol at taking any list with dudes from the 40’s-80’s and some 90’s into consideration.

I’m sure teams would be rotating their secondaries over and DC’s would be losing sleep over Dante Lavelli these days

So nobody that played before 2000 exists in your mind. 1940s sure. 80s amd 90s were under harder rules for defense. Not their whole career with every advantage.

I said some 90’s and there’s a select few tail end of the 80’s guys I feel could still play in today’s era.

What’s “some” mean. When is this arbitrary cutoff date? Seems awful convenient to just pick random times for no reason. Were you even born then?

DJ is a #1 but being a #1 means you forget those fumbles, correct and return to beasting after the catch. His confidence took a hit after those fumbles that literally lost the game. I get it but we need DJ to be DJ again.

It's really tough to be humble as a star athlete. Your whole career demands that you be supremely self confident but football is hard and when the best to ever do it in a Panther uniform plays your position, has a similar body type, style of play and you're not trying to stick to that guy like glue?

I said before last off season that he needed to humble himself and get as much of Smitty's time as he could. Yeah, Smitty is gonna put you through heck but he could cut that development time in half for DJ the young WR. He said it, that's his spirit animal. Somebody needs to piss this version off. No better than agent 89. Get whatever little time you can get DJ. Mow his lawn. Wash his car. Break in and cook breakfast for his family.

Humble thyself. It won't be easy, it really won't but you've got all the tools.

I love this board sometimes.  2 weeks ago we should trade Cam and we might be the best team in the NFC.  Now its draft a new receiver and sign an entirely new OL and DL, forget this year and this coaching staff because they will be gone at the end of the year.  The truth is, like always, somewhere in the middle.  They played a bad game but that doesn't mean they are a bad team.  Right now they are a team that has to play well in all phases to win.  When Cam comes back healthy that will change somewhat but we still won't be the best team in the NFC.  One game does not make a season.  I remember when the 94 49ers lost to the Eagles 40-8 at home.  ESPN was saying "whats wrong with these guys".  They went 13-3 and won the super bowl and I still believe that was the best team I have ever seen for 1 season.  The world does not end with 1 game.

This is a list of just yardage for receivers.

Julio right now is one above our Moose at 31.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/rec_yds_career.htm

now look at touchdowns—- Julio’s isn’t in the top 100 yet:

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/rec_td_career.htm

lastly, while it’s difficult to find all time drop and catch percentage numbers,.. this one kinda confirms what I see from Julio— he catches perfect passes in the open field but drops a lot of passes and chokes when games are on the line—fails to catch imperfect but catchable passes a poo-ton

he can’t hold DeAndre Hopkins jock strap there.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/sports.nbcsports.com/2019/07/22/deandre-hopkins-houston-texans-nfl-best-receiver/amp/

So again while Julio May end up a top 10 receiver for receiving yards, he will never break the top 75 for touchdowns and is terrible when clutch catches are on the line to win games

just facts— I would still want him if we could get him but he’s not a top 10 ever ever,.. and probably not a top 15 ever ever

I remember that game like it was yesterday. Seifert called a timeout just to get Steve Young out of the game  it was brutal. And these weren’t the Reggie White Eagles.

As far as our receivers— yes they need to be better.

but neither of them caused the defensive FUBAR we saw on Sunday,..

they also didn’t play offensive line which was a total disaster.

and they didn’t throw 3 interceptions.

they just failed to make clutch plays to help keep pace with a team that is obviously for real and came to play.

we went tits up—
