My mom died a couple of weeks ago. It’s awful. That grief lingers

7 years ago for me.  You learn to cope (primarily because you know she would want you to).  But the big, gaping empty spot in your life is always there and you know its never going away and can never be filled.  But you cope nonetheless.

I couldn’t imagine going out to the West Coast and playing at a high-level In an NFL game.

If memory serves, Shaq is a California guy right?  So his family and his Mom's services were likely there in the same state (though, admittedly, it's a big state).  Plus, a tried-and-true coping mechanism is getting right back into it.  Keep busy.  Surround yourself with family and/or teammates/brothers.

I appreciate that perspective man. Yeah, it’s been rough lately. Staying busy at home, with work and the football project helps.

You know it affected him but when Luke was so far out of position and getting tossed around, it was obvious that the team was not prepared at all. No one on defense outside of a handful of plays looked good. I’d say the only guys that may have actually had a good game were Donte and Bradberry and that could have had more to do with the 49ers not attacking them.

It reminded me of last year before the restructuring so bad.  We were completely out of position and seemingly set up for failure from jump.  When I seen us playing everybody at the line of scrimmage and Tre thirty yards downfield, I was like they can just throw it in the middle of that gaping hole in the zone.  And San Fran preceded to do that all game.  Well, that and whatever else they wanted.
