Most wouldn't have even followed this if Rivera/Hurney had not held on to an empty roster and told us they had a plan

It is very likely that there was indeed a plan, but it turned out that the asking price was way to high. But don't let any logical thinking cloud your judgement. Obviously, they just suck.

Amazing how if no trade is made - "Fire Marty, he didn't make a trade"

If a trade was made, it would be - "Fire Marty, he gave up too much!!!"

This is literally a no win situation for him with this group.

This thread was primarily about trades around the league.

I don't think much of anybody was expecting us to make a trade. Some might have been hoping, but I don't think anybody was expecting.

And for my part, I'm okay with that. I'm not a fan of seeing guys trade away future draft capital when their own futures aren't guaranteed.

There were only a few teams today who actually had players they were willing to part with in whom other teams had a genuine interest (Bengals, Redskins, Jets and Broncos).

None of them got a deal made.

Whether or not that will prove to be the best decision for them remains to be seen

I was more referencing that there were plenty of teams who had positions of need that could have been filled by players available.  But they also "stuck to their guns" and didn't agree to the price being asked.

thought for sure trent williams would get moved.. redskins are dumb for passing up a 2nd for him.

Well, he is reportedly ending his holdout.

I'm not a big believer in the Redskins management, but they may wind up being the winners in this story.

I've been following this for a long time and I don't remember ever keeping a roster spot open like that. Not just Hurney, all of the NFL. It would make sense to cut a vet as a favor in anticipation of an upcoming trade but that didn't happen.

Fair. And likewise, we'll see whether those decisions were smart or not.

General consensus right now is that the "sellers" were asking too much, but the take might be different down the road.

The plan/ open roster spot thing meant it was reasonable to expect something.

Still, that is the case. We are sitting on 52 right now.

Legit question when the last time we found a legit star or pro bowler  after the first or second round like other teams do ? We pass up on a lot of good guys cause they don’t fit our “mold “ lol character guys

For reference.  This is 2000-2017.  So a good 540ish players per round.

As you can see, finding a pro bowler after round 2 is rare as hell.

But Josh Norman, Trai Turner, Greg Hardy..off of the top of my head.
