Because rookie contracts are so relatively cheap. Draft picks are by far your best opportunity to get the best bang for the buck out of your cap space.

I can't remember who, but someone posted the percentage chance of getting a starter in each round. It was pretty good in the 1st and 2nd, and still decent in the 3rd, but really bottoms out after that.

I’m pretty sure there is a pending suspension tied to AB. Otherwise sure.

Its essentially a salary dump. Rams get Miami to take on Talib's contract for a 5th to free up salary cap space. Thin the Osweiler trade from Houston to Cleveland a few years back.
