Performances like today is what makes our fan base and this forum so crazy.

It's no wonder this forum is so freaking bipolar, I don't even know where to start... lol. I truly felt good about our chances during the week leading up to this game, but how easy it is to forget the character and pattern/nature of this team. They always seem to give you just enough hope, then, just as you start feeling that they are turning a corner, finding an identity, becoming dare I say, good... WHAM! we're brought back down to well below reality, to the point of medication needed.

All week long I read posts on this forum where Niners trolls were desperately trying to convince us they they are the real deal and that the Panthers had ZERO chance at doing anything against them. Based on the Panthers last 4 games OF COURSE we had a reason to differ. Not one Panthers fan thought this game would be a blowout in the fashion that this game was (was like a good FBS college team playing a small FCS college team in the end), no freaking wonder we have such a chaotic forum at times with such crazy topics. The fanbase deserves better, I think this fanbase and this forum has to eat more crow than any fanbase/forum in the league (excluding the poor Browns). Everyone on this forum, no matter who you have supported or defended needs a break... This team makes us ALL, no matter our knowledge of the game look very bad sometimes. 49ers fans are laughing their asses off at us right now and I don't know that I blame them. I would like to personally apologize to every Carolina Panthers fan on this forum for this performance, kudos to everyone this week that argued with the Niners trolls on here, I'm sorry that the Panthers left their souls in Charlotte and got just got utterly buried today. It would not have been so bad if it would have been the game we all expected, a hard fought low scoring game where the Niners come out on top.

We as Panthers fans have seen this pattern too many times lately, I know that the season is not over and that this team could turn it around, it seems the whole league is very unpredictable anymore. I am just tired of losing these type of high-hope/barometer type games on the national stage where we are trying to prove to the country AND ourselves that we have a legitimately good team, and at times have shown the potential. I like roller coasters at amusement/theme parks, I don't like roller coaster football. I love the Panthers, and I don't mean to sound so negative, but this type of loss just seems to be happening too often. I truly hope Mr. Tepper can find the magic recipe for this team, is it Cam? Is it Allen? is it the coaching staff, I don't know. If Cam comes in 100% healthy and leads this team to an amazing story, then what a story it will be, but I am just tired of getting my hopes up just to see these guy come out and underperform like they did today. I really hope this loss today can help bring the team together instead of what happened last year after the Steelers loss. There is talent on this squad, but does the team have the heart and character to use this to fuel them... Guess we'll see. Sorry about the rant and long post, I just needed to. I feel bad for every single Panthers fan today, no matter how crazy we are... lol

I'm with you 100%. This type of loss hurts.

I know we joke the Panthers do better when they're being ignored, but it's not really a joke.  This team too often is not ready for prime-time.

Is it complacency? Do coaches / players start to "believe their own press" whenever there's some positive attention, and thus somehow get lazy? I just don't know. But this team only rarely has shown it can win big games, and that hurts.

Panthers are one of the most Jekyll and Hyde teams in the NFL over the last decade (can't win in even number years). That is a reflection of ownership/management and coaching. How many times do the Patriots, Steelers or Saints get blown out in this fashion when they have a WINNING record going into the contest?

You know, I just remembered that Panthers would have gotten their all-time regular season W-L record back to .500 with a win yesterday. It's like this team is allergic to above .500 ball. ... The no consecutive winning seasons thing. It's so weird.

Here's the screenshot of PFR's Panthers page, not accounting for yesterday's loss...

So now it's 194-196-1.  Sigh....

This is what I feel some of our fanbase seem to miss. Losing like this isn't normal. Looking flat out embarassing for a whole 4 quarters with the kind of talent we have is unaceptable.

The last two seasons is the first time I've come to the point where I don't even want to watch the team play no more.

They're not enjoyable watch and I feel sorry for the players playing for this team. They deserve better, as do the fans.

It's the textbook definition of mediocrity... If Mr. Tepper can make a profit with that, why try to change it? It's ALL about the Benjamins? Right? *eyes roll*  (hoping he will not be that way)

It's funny how you mention not wanting to watch them play... That seems to be a sentiment amongst A LOT of Panthers fans that I know. And it's not even about them being good or bad... It seems to be more about how they are bad when they are bad and the wild inconsistency they seem to have. It's just hard on your health and heart watching this team play because you do not know which team will show up. And how many times do we see the Panthers have a good cushion lead and STILL allow it to become a game? Way too common. How the hell was this team so dominant in 2015?

What gets me is you will still get those "superior" fans who come in and sh*t on everyone for being reactionary and then question our mentality, like this hasn't been going on for 8 years now. Sh*t like yesterday is why there are SO MANY pessimistic people on this forum (including me). Because every time we think we've turned the corner into a good team, we get humbled back down to earth by some snobby ass team. This sh*t just happens way too often. So why even get hype on a big game anymore knowing Ron will most likely not even have his team prepared? Why even get hyped for the Saints games knowing full well Brees is just going to torch our soft ass zone defense again? Why even get hyped for the GB game knowing our defense can't stop legit offenses? Everything about Rivera has become a pattern that's been easily figured out by now, and yet somehow he will still be our HC next year :poison:
