Did Cam’s dabs and grandiose celebrations lead to his downfall injury wise?

I don't recall any discussion of this during or after the superbowl.  My memory isn't perfect but seems this is getting muddled together. The head shot conversation began first game of 16

Seriously? Dude you must have gotten hit in the head too.

The conversation had been going on long before that. It was obvious before and very obvious during the Superbowl. You must not have been paying attention.

pretty sure his injury downfall can be pinpointed.....to him giving 100% on a INT return trying to prevent the defender from scoring.  You know the play, where lazy Kelvin allowed the pick, then didn't bother making an easy stop....so, Cam, like always had to do everything.

and I am not downplaying the fact refs have allowed him to be treated like a 1980 RB and tee off on him at will most of his career.

Why do so many people try and say it was another play?  If he would have veered off and let the guy run it back unscathed or Kelvin would'n't have quit on the route, none of this shoulder sh*t would be an issue.  But all people want to show is that d*mn fumble from the S. Bowl and say he is not a team player.

I feel like you just wanted to use “grandiose” in a sentence.

I used pejorative in a post to the 49ers prediction thread without even thinking about it and some 49er fan accused me of eating a dictionary. Call me crazy, but in a written medium, wouldn’t it be nice if we collectively aspired to a greater command of language rather than poo on it?

There are people who would rather see the team lose than win with Newton, but I seriously doubt it's anything close to half the fan base.

There are, likewise, a small number of people who would rather see the team lose than win with anybody other than Newton.

Both viewpoints are ignorant.

The vast majority of us just want to see the team win regardless of who happens to be playing at the time.

I agree. It’s totally ridiculous.

its gone completely to the Land of the Ridiculous.

maybe Cam comes back and leads the team to a Super Bowl... hoorah,.. how many will still be upset?

maybe Cam is really done in Carolina and he’s traded after the season for a pile of picks and we get to the Super Bowl with someone else. People will still be upset.

we do either and we don’t win a Super Bowl and everyone will be in a forever hating.

it gets old.

Because people would rather push their agenda than be objective.

Wasn’t so much a poo on the inspiring use of language, especially for this board, moreso than it was for the generated topic.

Eh. I can see how with this board’s recent history people would take issue with the subject of it. I tend to think that in a vacuum, it’s a fair point of discussion, but I see why nobody thinks that discussion is likely to be productive at this moment, so I feel ya.

Bullshit, Scot.

I feel as though you're being verbose in a way that belies and endeavors to conceal a basal narcissism

Please, it's not even half of this board.

Granted, it's easy to come to that conclusion if you define any statement like "well, maybe he could have thrown that pass better" as "I hate Cam Newton and wish we'd get rid of him".

    • You go after my guy with nonsense like "I don't see quickness or explosiveness" and "I haven't seen a lot of quickness or full route tree ability that we always ignore" Then yea, I'm gonna punch back. Like I've said, if people want to draft someone else, that's totally fine, everyone has their own opinions.  But if you're going to advocate against a specific player, don't talk complete nonsense about their game like this. Even more so, don't do that when you're saying I'm the one with a bias towards him. If I was afraid of it looking like a bias pick on my part, I'd never have said I was an Arizona alumni when arguing for him, but I've admitted it from the very beginning, because I don't think my Arizona connection gives me a bias, it just means I know his game REALLY well as I've seen every snap of his college career.  So yea, you start saying the knocks on him are things that he's actually really good at, then you're going to get an earful from me with some video evidence to back it up. In the end, for me, it all falls back to how rare a player like T-Mac can be due to his size.  The smaller speedier type of WRs are exactly who you can find in later rounds and who become available as Free Agents, I can't ever get on board with taking a Hunter (as a WR) or Burden over T-Mac if all were on the board, for that reason alone, and I'd say that if he was a freaking Sun Devil, no matter how much it would hurt me to admit if it if that were the case.
