Good question, but I think Shaq is an exceptional player that is excelling in an increased role now that TD is gone. He's making great individual plays based on reads and assignments that TD used to make. I think father time is also finally catching up to TD.

I think it’s far more likely that TD being a full decade older and playing lb in his mid to late 30’s is a more plausible explanation for the drop off. He was starting to slow down last year from a performance level that was impressive for someone his age. Time marches on and even TD is mortal.

Although I’m sure playing next to the MLB most likely to tell you the play before the snap hurts no one.

2. I think it’s too positive an association. The F-150 is a solid, durable, dependable vehicle that millions of people buy every year. If we must have an automotive nickname for these types, let’s call them the Pintos, because those things sucked.

A poo philosophy deserves to be associated with a poo car.

My least favorite vehicle is the atrocity of an Escalade truck (whatever the hell they named that thing). It's like pompous ass holes didn't feel like they were 'manly' enough so they cut the back off their SUV. The beds on those things couldn't hold an office chair and they couldn't town Dontari Poe.

The Panthers have been a linebacker dominant team since their inception, and as long as Ron is here that will remain.

I bet, at least to Ron, that shaq is the higher priority.

Also my favorite Shaq moment was a video clip from before his second season. 

He met Vernon Butler for the first time, they shook hands and everything, and shaq just got really serious and said "you ready to work?"

And Butler said "yes sir" like he was talking to his dad. 

Well, it took butler a few years, but still. A lot to be said for someone that naturally garners respect.

When Gettleman picked him I don't think he really expected TD to play here for an extra 2 years. It looked like a luxury pick, but I don't think it was intended to be. Good to see him balling out, hate we didn't extend him before the season started. Hindsight is always 20/20.

TD should still be here as a depth rotational piece and should’ve had his role seriously reduced as far back as 2016 so Shaq could begin to take the reigns.

I mean, it took Thomas Davis a scheme change and a few years to become the player we wanted. I'd be fine paying Shaq this offseason, he's a modern NFL LB and he's certainly effective. I'd rather just lock him up, he'll probably play a while
