Plenty of teams interested in Newton trade...

They don't, and neither does "a good portion of the fanbase".

Joe Person addressed the trade question in his latest Athletic article. He gives it even less chance of happening than Freeman does (i.e. zero)

The one caveat that Person did include is this:

It should be in doubt until Cam physically comes on the field and proves he's healthy.

In the off-season I said we should put out reports of how amazing cam looks and then trade him for whatever we can get. If we did that, we may well be undefeated and arguably more talented with the picks.

im still hoping we get old Cam back but I have my doubts and rightfully so. Hopefully we get a solid indication of his health this year so that we can make a well thought out decision on not only who to start but also on our future.

Even then it should be somewhat in doubt. Next year it’s something like $20M cap hit, if we keep him after that it’s certainly 30+, maybe 35. Allen is less than $1M the next two years, then RFA and tag candidate. If Kyle keeps playing like he has and even improves (definitely not a given), it becomes a no brainer to go with the younger, cheaper player. This happens all the time in this league at every other position, it’s just rare it happens at QB. Examples are obviously Brady and Dak for Romo, though of course the situations are not exactly alike.

I’m 100% confident Cam will not be traded during the season, unless some team made an offer we couldn’t refuse (I’m talking the equivalent of a few great young players and multiple first rounders, etc.) but that just won’t happen.

After the season though? Very real possibility depending on how the rest of the year plays out.

Because why wouldnt they be... former MVP. Only decline in skill we have that is 100% evident is injury. I dont like or care for who little a large contingent of our fanbase fells about Newton. If he was just done I dont think so many other franchises would value you him so high. Stay pat until your sure what you have or dont have.

Not sure I have ever seen a franchise so ready to jettison the be quarterback they have had in franchise history. It is plausible that Jake gets more love and respect than Newton dispite their accomplishments.  I wonder why that is..

All Qbs come to end of their road.

Yet to be seen if this is Cam's.like they said concerning SS...its a business

Person says it is.

He stated his belief that Newton will return to health, but questions his long-term future anyway. Said the same elsewhere, with age, salary cap and injury history all being factors.

I don't believe he necessarily ties it to Kyle Allen either, though Allen continuing to be successful would make the process easier.
