To be frank because I asked for it. There are examples where racism is the motivator and I’m not arguing it’s not.

I work in law enforcement and my partner is black. And female, and homosexual. So there have been many times in my line of work I have had to set people straight that we are partners trying to better the community the best we can and she is no lesser than me.

I support the cause and I posted a single link to other officers that feel the same. I hate getting lumped into generalizations as ‘cops’ and it triggers me sometimes is all. It doesn’t help the situation and furthers the gap.

While racism is a problem, these shootings are not as simple like that. Poor training (and funding), hiring process, generalizations, stero types, socio economic gaps all play a bigger role in my first hand experience. 

And I feel those things should be addressed head on. As I said racism is a motive for some, but many officers getting caught up in these situation have no history of these behaviors and helping them improve isn’t as simple as labeling them racist. It’s the problems I listed above.

Just asking some to remember many law enforcement officer support the cause just as well and we’re not all the enemy. We swear to give our lives to the public all races included and a lot of us take that to heart.

Thank you. This is good to hear in times when we like to paint everyone in simplistic generalized terms.

And come on, he was a young legit S and y’all offered him a one year deal????? That is essentially telling Reid to leave.   One year deals are offered to old vets with maybe some gas in the tank and warm bodies to get through a season. 

SF didn’t want no part of Reid.  One year offer made that clear. 

If we offered one of our young guys like Shaq or Bradberry a one year deal they would leave and go play elsewhere because we would be giving them the finger and telling them to go.  I mean coming off your rookie deal is essentially the deal players play for. 

The 49ers had Jaquiski Tartt who they had just extended.   When healthy he has been very good for them.  That season he was the starter and Reid was the backup.   When Tartt got hurt, Reid became the starter.   At the end of the season, they would not commit to Reid as the starter and went back to Tartt who is still the starter at strong safety today. 

 

After Reid declined the 49ers offer, he ended up signing a one year deal with Carolina no?

Players of Reid’s caliber (and I mentioned some of our own in that tier in contract seasons) would be stupid to sign a one year deal coming off their rookie deal.  It just doesn’t happen. 

SF wanted to move on from being ground zero.  I can get that.  They did it about as tactful as they could.  Hence the one year deal they knew he wouldn’t take....because he shouldn’t of. 

and we brought him in mid season after not playing anywhere and being blackballed because of the distraction he brought.  I mean that just is what it is. Which required changing coasts.  As soon as it was clear he wanted to be here we gave him a 3 year deal.  Can’t really compare where he was when y’all offered him a one year deal vs us.

Reid's caliber?  He's a decent not great safety.   PFF had him ranked behind Tre Boston in 2017.    Didn't the Panthers let Boston walk after his rookie contract ended? 

 

Reid was a Pro Bowler as a rookie and didn't come close to that level of play again as a 49er.   In the new defense he was not capable of playing single high safety so that limited him to playing in the box where Tartt had established himself.   He also had a lot of concussion related issues while with the team, so much that fans were holding their breath each time he went in for a big hit.   

 

Reid is fine but its not like the 49ers are missing out with Tartt who has been very good for them at strong safety.     They made Reid an offer but wouldn't guarantee him a starting spot c'est la vie.  

A lot of what he said made no sense, particularly in regards to Bowman who has spoken very favorably of the organization and the new leadership.  Reid seems more upset for Bowman than Bowman was upset for Bowman.

Reid was a solid starting S.  And deals aren’t just for Luke Keuchly caliber players and everyone else gets one year offers. 

Tre Boston is a body. That’s it. PFF is often is the worst.  How it gets quoted.  I’ve watched a lot of Boston.  I’ve watched a lot of Reid.  Neither is an All Pro.  But Boston and Reid aren’t comparable players. 

I think it is super easy to see Reid’s POV.  Doesn’t mean his POV is 100% accurate but totally easy to see from his shoes.  He became a spectacle.  He is your starter.  He gets hurt.  Then when he gets healthy he doesn’t get his job back.  They force him into a position that essentially dooms his chance to look good in a contract year....then SF is forced only because of injury to put him back at S. 

I mean even if it was all totally innocent you gotta be able to see from his perspective how it seems
