Trades

Our beloved Panthers are meanwhile doing nothing.

Let's not mistake motion for action.

Two passengers go overboard on a cruise ship anchored in port. One flails about helplessly, screaming that they are drowning. The other swims to shore. Both are engaged in motion, but only one is taking action. Action has purpose. I'm not sure I see a lot of prospective trades out there that would serve the purpose of making us better, but I'm open to ideas.

Yeah the 49ers and Patriots wreak of desperation.

I wish we were that desperate.

Both teams may very well be paper tigers. Neither has really faced much competition.

San Fran has faced the Bucs, Bengals, Steelers, Browns, Rams and Redskins. The Rams were the only team of ability on the list and they barely beat us with Cam completely unable to play.

New England has faced: Pittsburgh, Miami, the Jets (twice), Buffalo, Washington and the Giants. Buffalo (Carolina North) gave them fits and the rest of those teams are jockeying for high draft picks.

When assessing how spectacular their defenses are, keep in mind those opponents and the massive rotation of QBs that has gone on. And none of those teams have a decent O-line except for Buffalo and the Rams.

Offensively, I question San Francisco heavily but for New England, you can't ever take Brady for granted.

Both coaches are desperate for depth and weaponry before they hit solid competitors. Right now, if the playoffs were to start, both would fall quickly to serious competition.

Pats and 49ers had major holes in their WR group that they know will show up once they face worthwhile competition.

We don't have major holes.  We have injuries causing depth issues.  We don't need a major splash.  We just need people to get healthy.

Agreed....This isn't fantasy football.  You can't just add a player without CAP implications and other roster moves.

While there may be players on the bottom part of the roster that we could move away from.  Is it worth a trade to pick up a player that won't see the field and give up draft capital to boot.  And it should also be mentioned about chemistry. Will those players mesh without our team.

Our starting line up is pretty solid and you may find someone to trade with but is it worth it.  IMO, no.  I don't see any player out there that is on the blocks that is going to make a significant addition our team.
