49ers Fans Seem Very Confident

Overall, most 49ers fans have drank the Kool-Ade. After several seasons of ineptitude since Harbaugh's departure, I guess they are overly enthused at their recent success. Here are some nuggets:

Forgot to put my score prediction. Carolina put up 34 against Sacksonville's strong front. I expect them to run at us a lot with CMC. The home field advantage may help us a smidge, but if I'm looking at the head-to-head matchups by position groups, this is what I see.

Coaching: EVEN (Both coaches have been to a Superbowl. Kyle was an OC but you can see how much he mattered to ATL)
QB: EVEN (Jimmy has thrown 6 INTs, but Allen has lost 6 fumbles)
RB: Panthers
TE: 49ers
WR: Panthers
OL: EVEN (Grading this if both OTs are out. Carolina has allowed twice the number of sacks as us but Jimmy gets the ball out fast)
DL/LB: EVEN (Combined these because they run a 3-4 D. Panthers have a vicious front 4 who have combined for 16.5 sacks already)
DB: 49ers
STs: EVEN (Gano barely doing any better than Gould, punting and return units with no much distance between them)

The sets up to be a really close game if certain things remain relatively equal. Not having Juice will really hurt us, and Carolina is coming off of a bye week of rest. Panthers have showed lately that they can put up points on good defenses. We need to protect the ball. This might be a game where Jimmy has to win it for us.

Score prediction:

49ers 30, Panthers 27

Someone hasn't watched any Panthers games.

McCaffery 22 carries, 31yds, 1TD against the Bucs

A bit overrated. That's 1.41yds/carry

LOL at anyone calling McCaffrey overrated.

Bigger game than Rams.

Facing:
- RB MVP Candidate
- Top 10 defense
- Defense with most sacks in the NFL
- QB focused on not making mistakes (assuming Allen)

It's going to be a tough game. Carolina has perhaps the best d-line in football lead by the front-runner for DROY, Brian Burns. That's not an ideal matchup for a team missing it's starting tackles. It'll likely be a defensive slugfest with the biggest key to the game being whether or not we can contain McCaffrey.

False. and False. 49ers have the best DLine in football and THE DROY.

I suppose if we're required to only analyze things with a homer slant, then that's true. They have significantly more sacks as a unit than us and Burns has more sacks than any other rookie. I'm sure we can come up with some fancy anal ticks to twist the numbers to make our d-line look better if we want, but I'm just going by what has happened on the field.

Anyways, their d-line will be a tough test for our o-line regardless of how some bean counter living in his parents basement ranks them.

Lol some fan on fan crime!

They're undefeated and the game is at home. They should feel confident. If we go in and win, our bandwagon will begin to fill up rapidly

Yep.  This is the game that will get us national attention if we can win.

All I gotta say is that if this was the Panthers who were 6-0 after beating the teams they have, I'd be waiting for the bottom to drop out, especially given what happened last season.

Said it elsewhere: I'd love to see us do to the 49ers in this game what the Steelers did to us last season..

That game was a terror.  I was at the German restaurant in Epcot at Disney, watching it on my phone, chugging beer as some German guy sang loudly right next to our table. People were dancing, having such a good time, and a single tear slid down my face for an entire 3 hours as it unfolded.  What a nightmare

I won't be shocked if the opposite happens and we get Steeler'd again. On paper, the 49ers are one of the worst match ups in the league for us IMO. I'll be very encouraged if we win this game.

I feel like this game has all the makings of the game in 2013 we played against them and won by 1 point. Teams seem very similar to that year

    • Hey guys, remember when we won those meaningless games in 2010 and it cost us the #1 pick and the chance to draft Cam? Oh.... right I get that's more of an extreme example because it got us a HOF caliber QB.  But it's the general concept, you want to win late season games when you have the pieces in place to make a run the next season, we currently are not in that place. Herbert and Sewell are the ones I point to so much, because we literally lost out on 2 franchise different makers by 1 draft slot.  Give us those two players while we still have CMC, Moore, and the rest of the picks we gave up for Bryce, and we'd have been a legit playoff contender the last few years. Draft position matters in the NFL more than any other sport (other than the #1 pick in the NBA in a year with a generational talent).
    • It’s so crazy. If we had a shot for pick 1 and there was some generational player there then yeah maybe I could get behind the draft position argument. I’d say most GMs and coaches aren’t diving into the draft right now. They are trying to win games.
