The same “dominant” defense that was getting torched by McCown? The same dominant defense that almost let Greenbay come back from 30+ points only to be cut short by Cam? The same dominant defense that let the Giants score 21 in the 4th, again leaning on Cam to carry to victory?

“A mountain of short fields” is disingenuous and false as hell. The 2015 defense doesn’t even hold a candle to 2013’s Defense, let alone this year’s squad.

It was a good defense spearheaded by outstanding individual play (Luke, Short, Norm) but it definitely wasn’t carrying the 2015 team. Especially in comparison to the otherworldly individual performance of Cam Newton.

You cannot be a panthers fan and tell yourself that. I’m not hating on Cam. If I was it would be really simple to turn this discussion upside down on you. 

Cam wouldn’t have had the success he did in ‘15 without that defense it’s plain and simple.

It's easy to forget how stout our run game was that year. Stewart and Cam anchored the offense when we needed tough yards. Actually that was the first season Cam had a 1,000 yard rusher. It's no coincidence that factor alone catapulted us over the playoff hump. Our defense was obviously fantastic as well and there's no taking anything away from that but our receiving game was iffy at times. Ginn was almost as likely to drop a crucial pass as catch it. Remember the end of that Colts game?
