People fall in love with the 5-0 record but fail to realize the number 1 overall pick last year has struggle mightily in his second year.

Kyle just has too small of a sample size to legitimately be able hand the keys to the franchise over to him

Baker Mayfield and Kyle Allen are different types of QBs.  Mayfield is a playmaker.  He will take chances to make plays.  Kyle Allen is a game manager.  He will play it safe, if it isn't there dump it off or throw it away.  Its easier for D coordinators to make the playmaker make mistakes with enough tape.  All you see with tape on Allen is him making the safe read or throwing it away. What I am most impressed with Kyle is that he is calm under pressure.  I also feel that this type of QB fits better in Norvs system. I love Cam and everything he has done for this franchise, but KA makes a lot of sense for the future of the franchise

I'd argue a lot of those have been gifts from Norv where those options have been the first read in general, but fair enough if you use the tampa game as basis for this claim as he has started to expand his reads a little bit more.

Louis Riddick...

Like I said, it ain't that simple.

Really would hope the Panthers staff isn't that short sighted if four does play out.

Now, if he continues playing at a #3 or #4 level afterwards for 2-3 more games? Then yes, we can talk about how it may be more feasible to let Cam play for the Bears and ride the Allen train. And I'd welcome it.

You ever heard of the trade deadline? That thing that would not allow us 2-3 games to trade him to the bears? If the defense plays legit Sunday, one of these qbs  should be put on the market October 29th. That QB on the bench is keeping a Pro Bowl type player off the roster. I'd have to get an AJ Green or Von Miller and a 1st rounder to move either though (I think both teams would honestly be more then willing, but the Panthers have not had a history of mid-season splash lets win the super bowl trades).

If Cam is put on the trade block during this season, I'd have very high concerns about the management of this team.

If a trade happens, it better be in the offseason when we can evaluate this season as a whole.

Same guy who said Mitch Trubisky would be a world beater this season. He's had quite a few questionable takes imho.

Everybody does, but he's not alone in his assessment.

And his statement that things like age, contract and injury history factor in to the decision is absolutely correct.

True, you have never seen the Panthers hand the keys over to a player with that small of an NFL resume.....

I don't believe Newton is on the trade block this season under any circumstances.

Agreed. It's more beneficial to the team to wait and see what happens next year. If they choose to move on there will be a more significant market for a former MVP because there are always teams desperate for a QB in the offseason.

Right now there is no downside to playing the season with options at QB in a wide open NFC should we make our way into the playoffs.

Truthfully though part of me wonders if Newton wouldn't just retire should the team and him ultimately go their separate ways. That's a tough reality of football.
