You mean like last night when people said the bears had one of the best Ds in the league but could stop the saints anywhere on the field. That's what the Panthers do to teams as well.

The Bears couldn’t win the turnover battle, couldn’t score touchdowns until it was garbage time, couldn’t stop the Saints from scoring touchdowns. Hell the saints missed 2 field goals that I saw.

again, most important, decisively win the turnover battle and score touchdowns. Be able to have long drives and run the ball but also be able to hit Ginn for 35 yarders and score in 2 plays off the bears turnover.

turnovers, score touchdowns on those turnovers, stop the other team from scoring touchdowns.

3 most important for me.

A lot of stats get lost in football of what actually matters.

Turnovers matter a ton. Defense causing and offense none.

average field position matters a ton.

scoring touchdowns on short fields matters a ton. Stopping touchdowns matters a ton. Make them bend and break, bend and cause turnovers and not break— matters a ton

fluff stats like passer rating, passing yards, etc are all fluff if you don’t score touchdowns.

defensive stats like 1st in total yards don’t matter if you have a worst than 15th scoring defense. Worst yet again is no or really low turnovers.

Turnovers, red zone offense, red zone defense - 3 stats I always care about
