Tepper And MLS/BoA

So he would take $100-200M to take the upper deck of BoA to make it a soccer only stadium then build a new stadium for the Panthers with another $500M+ from the city/state elsewhere.

I did wonder why the hell he needed $100-200M to make BoA soccer compatible. This would make sense.

Saw something about old Eastland Mall site?

It’s actually amazing.  They thinking about establishing Barcelona FC academy here instead of Spain.  I think the new MLS team in Charlotte might be part of Barcelona development program and Barca have one of the best academies in the world.  Eastland mall would be a huge HQ with practice fields and likely a hotel.  It would change that area quite a bit.

Perfect area of town for something like that

I would love it. I live in East Charlotte and grew up going to Eastland Mall. The area needs a spark like this and with the gold line ending there is might be more reality than people think.

Agreed.  Loved Eastland Mall in my youth.  Passed through the area a few years back and it was pretty sad to see how badly things have declined since the 70s and 80s.

I think it would be a mistake to move the Panthers from downtown and BOA.  However, it would be brilliant to redevelop the Eastland Mall area for a new MLS team if they can manage the traffic flow in and out of the area during games.

    • It will be interesting to see who is still available at #4.  There could be a player someone drastically needs and will be willing to give up a nice haul to get him.  Getting an extra round one pick in 2026 would be nice.
    • First of all, I think we should fix as many areas as possible other than QB going into 2025.  Young has played well the 2nd half of the season and needs more evaluation.   I think DL should be our focus whether it is Graham or Carter with our 1st pick. I wouldn't be sad if we used our 2nd round pick on another D-Lineman.  It will be much easier to get a WR on a one- or two-year free agent contract than to pick a WR that could be JAG.  This also gives XL and Coker another year to develop.  Our free agent picks in 2024 for the D-Line were, IMO, designed to complement Brown.  Once Brown went out those players were mediocre.  We need to have insurance in case Brown comes back and doesn't perform to his pre-injury play.  Sadly, I think we should move on from Evero.  He doesn't seem to have the heart for this team.
