Its why I'm a little bit leery of our success. We're doing a lot of things that probably aren't sustainable. Our sack rate. Our rate of forcing turnovers. No INTs over the last 4 games. CMC leading the league by a wide margin in yards from scrimmage. 6th round rookies stepping in and playing like All-Pro LT.

Don't get me wrong, I love being 4-2 especially after an 0-2 start, but I hope we can maintain our success when the law of averages kicks in and some of these breaks start hedging the other direction.

The law of averages kind of depends on some outliers, and this season could be one of those.

Well, not with that attitude

My attitude as a fan is irrelevant. I work with statistics and specifically forecasting enough to look at these things and understand the realities of the situation. Statistical anomalies are common in the short term but virtually non-existent in the long term.

Dave Gettleman was with this team for a half decade, and contributed nothing to our pash rush despite multiple high picks

Pop quiz;  how many of these 10 guys did David Gettleman sign or draft?

Mario Addison, Brian Burns, Bruce Irvin, Donari, Poe, Gerald Mccoy, Efe Obada, Maquise Haynes, Christian Miller, Jermaine Carter

The answer is...........0

Despite a half decade as GM

Tbf, he did draft Shaq. He's been getting to the qb quite often this season.

He did resign Mario to two different EXTREMELY low contacts.

You also leftd out KK. Plus Carter is a ILB.

I said it a few times, you have to hand to Hurney 2.0 about fixing the DE/OLB spot. IMO, its near impossible to do so in two years and he did. Plus its a great mix of young bloods and old heads. Great job at top three position.

I agree completely. Been saying this.

That applies when things are left to chance. This defense and our team haven't really had a bunch of breaks or favorable referee calls for the most part. It seems to me we have made our own luck and forced the other team to make mistakes. That can be sustainable.

Yup. Forcing fumbles is a skill. Recovering them is mostly chance. A team may be forcing only an average number of fumbles but recovering an unsustainably high percentage of them. That’s not sustainable. But a team that forces a lot of fumbles and recovers about half, that’s sustainable.

The pace isn't sustainable. I'll bet any amount of money you want to wager.

Really ??? Betting on what?  Only a fool bets on those kind of things especially when you play a tougher schedule down the road. It might not be sustainable but it won't have anything to do with luck or averages.

And how many of Allen's fumbles has he recovered? How many of those we caused did we recover? That is the point. We aren't catching tons of breaks or having the ball roll out way at a pace that is unsustainable. Given that our schedule gets much harder, it is surely possible we won't sustain things as we have, but it won't have anything to do with averages or luck .
