I find it interesting that so many Cam backers want him to sit against San Fran and return vs Tennessee

A more ridiculous take than I’ve seen around here in a while. “Of COURSE Ron wouldn’t play Cam unless he’s fully healthy and in no heightened risk of injury whatsoever! What you think Ron would risk Cam’s health?! Pshaw!”

i can see the test now, ron: ok cam go run your head into that steel door as fast as you can

there is no way you bench either of these guys if they have a bad quarter... or hell, a bad half.

this is not a team in need of a QB controversy with that garbage... go with one or the other for this game barring an injury.

once the switch is made back to Cam the only way that reverses is if he is injured... or, I guess, atrocious across multiple games, but I don't see that happening if he is healthy.

This is a special case though, because Cam showed in practice that he could throw deep, then during game day he struggled to throw 20 yards.

He tried to hide his short comings due to injuries, and if he does it again bench him. I'm still ticked off at the way he handled the first two games, that was selfish and put the team in the situation it's in right now.

The upcoming schedule is a guantlet of top tier teams, I don't want to see another repeat of the first two games and been given another list of post game excuses on a game that looked winnable.

You could easily argue that it's Newton who has been notoriously bad after the by week.  2018 is the only decent game he's had after a bye

Year - Completion % -  TD - Int

2011 - 57.5% 0 1

2012  56.8%  1 1

2013  53.8%  0 3

2014  51.4%  1 1

2015  55.6%  1 2

2016  51.9%  0 0

2017  39.3%  0 0

2018  60.0%  2 2

Oh I'd say the 2015 game against the Seahawks was not "notoriously bad" - leading two 80 yard TD drives in the 4th against the best defense in the league in one of the toughest places in the league to play. Good job with copy and pasting the stats and drawing inferences instead of watching the games, that's a solid contribution to the thread.

I'm more concerned that he won't actually be fully healthy yet. You said "healthy enough", which we've seen before and is what he's played as in like is last 9 games.. He needs to be fully healthy, or we're better off playing Allen.

Players usually return to practice before really being completely 100%. But they're healthy enough to the light stuff and ease their body back into it.

i mean do i want cam to die first game back? no.

if kyle allen is playing as fine as everyone (and I) says, then he should be fine one more game against the 49ers. Cam Newton needs to be healthy for the playoffs, and one game against the NFC's best defense is okay to miss in favor of keeping him healthy down the road.

EVERY game counts at this point.

If Cam is healthy and has earned back the starting position over QB7 and then doesn't start in a  crucial game against the 49'ers because he's pussyfooting that's unacceptable.

Another instance of certain folks placing the best interests of the Panthers behind those of Cam.  A pretty interesting phenomena really, never seen it before.  Cam first, Team second.

The same season we got Norv and scraped Shula

Which Cam had his highest completion %

Even over the 2015 season

Coincidence

I find it hilarious that me and Igo can say the exact same thing in this thread, yet people are pooing the hell out of me and saying they're going to put me on ignore lists, while people are giving Igo pie after pie hahahaha.

Because you're the Colin Cowherd/Skip Bayless of the huddle perhaps?

I know not all of the Cam backers want this, so if you want him to start against San Francisco, congratulations...I'm not talking about you. But I've seen a lot of people that want Cam to get his job back that say they want him to sit one more game against San Francisco and come back against Tennessee.

If you want Cam back, you must want him back healthy. And, by all accounts so far, it looks like he'll be healthy enough to start against San Francisco if that's what Rivera decides. So what's the real reason some Cam backers don't want to see him against San Francisco? Could it be, and I'm just spitballing here, that you're afraid he's going to look terrible against San Francisco and want him to play the awful Titans as his first game back instead? Surely that's not it right? If Cam is healthy he's a top 5/MVP-caliber QB right? So why fear the 49ers? If Cam is as good as you say, shouldn't we blow the 49ers out if we add an MVP-caliber QB to a team with a defense as playing as well as it is?

Hey, here’s a great idea that every coach in the NFL would approve of;

Take your starting qb who has missed multiple games, let him practice for ONE week and tell him he’s starting on Sunday.

Do you realize Cam has to get comfortable with his receivers again, get the timing down?

Guess that doesn’t matter if you’re a Cam hater

One thing that's not really being talked about is how the rest of the offensive players are performing with KA over Cam. Offense is a group effort and if the offense as a whole performs better with healthy KA than they are with healthy Cam, that's something that has to be taken into consideration. Getting to the line early and having time to make adjustments is nothing to scoff at or dismiss. It's not who is the best QB when healthy, its who gives the team the best chance to perform well as a whole.
