I find it interesting that so many Cam backers want him to sit against San Fran and return vs Tennessee

If Cam is healthy and ready to start, then sitting him against the 49ers is a purely political move in the hopes that Allen chokes against a team that is firing on all cylinders right now.  The nightmare situation for a front office looking to get Cam back into the lineup is that Allen goes into the 49ers' house and lights them up while the D loses the game.  A bad situation is if Allen is good enough to eke out a win with the D playing a heavy hand in getting there.  The manageable situation is where Allen predictably struggles against one of the best defenses in the league.

The nightmare situation crops up worse if Allen struggles against a 49ers team to allow Cam to come back against the Titans, but Cam loses the Titans game.  At that point, you have a full-blown QB controversy when the teeth of the 2019 schedule is ramping up.

Either way, the safe and politically expedient path is to bench a healthy Cam for the 49ers game.  If you're adamant that the team is better with a healthy Cam vs Kyle Allen, then also opting to bench a healthy Cam in the 49ers game is fair game to be called on your hypocrisy.  The same holds true for Kyle Allen supporters (or any other QB where starting lineups is a question).

SMF has essentially laid down a simple "put your money where your mouth is" statement for people in this camp.

If you want Cam back, you must want him back healthy. And, by all accounts so far, it looks like he'll be healthy enough to start against San Francisco if that's what Rivera decides.

Which accounts?

Also- why are you a Panthers fan but not a “cam-backer”

Why would that require a banning? Is this North Korea? Is Cam a dictator? Do we ban everyone who questions the abilities of all of our players? There would be no members.

I mean...thebigcat was a pretty shitty and annoying poster overall but he basically got banned for being anti-Cam, so that precedent has already been established. What makes it even more questionable is how people were straight up calling him and his kids fat and yet no moderator action there.

I know not all of the Cam backers want this, so if you want him to start against San Francisco, congratulations...I'm not talking about you. But I've seen a lot of people that want Cam to get his job back that say they want him to sit one more game against San Francisco and come back against Tennessee.

If you want Cam back, you must want him back healthy. And, by all accounts so far, it looks like he'll be healthy enough to start against San Francisco if that's what Rivera decides. So what's the real reason some Cam backers don't want to see him against San Francisco? Could it be, and I'm just spitballing here, that you're afraid he's going to look terrible against San Francisco and want him to play the awful Titans as his first game back instead? Surely that's not it right? If Cam is healthy he's a top 5/MVP-caliber QB right? So why fear the 49ers? If Cam is as good as you say, shouldn't we blow the 49ers out if we add an MVP-caliber QB to a team with a defense as playing as well as it is?

If Cam says that he is ready to go and the medical staff agrees, then he is ready to go.

I cannot speak for anybody else, but personally, I would like to see Cam sit until we play ATL. SF, TEN, and GB are all in the top 10 for defenses getting after the QB. ATL is tied for last. I want Cam to take as little punishment as possible after investing all of this time to get him healthy, so if Kyle Allen can go in and pull off a W at any of those 3 games then Cam not only gets the FULL 6 - 8 week recovery period, he gets one extra.

Rivera is notoriously bad coming off of the bye week. Cam will be hitting that 6 week mark in his recovery. Given the choice of marching him out there against three strong defenses, at the very least you give Allen the opportunity to go out there and pilot the offense against a top ranked defense. If he loses, Cam needs to be prepared to return for GB should they drop the game vs. TEN. If Allen can win vs. SF and/or TEN, then Cam gets the luxury of having until the home game vs ATL for his welcome back party :D

I believe that the team is good enough to win with Kyle Allen at QB during the regular season. I want the QB that is best for the team to win the Super Bowl to be in top condition, and that QB is Cam Newton.

Cam played a few snaps in the preseason and went out injured(his first game back). An injury that cost us two games. Why wouldn’t the 49’ers be any different than the titans?

That is what I'm thinking.  At this point I'm not entirely sure I can trust Cam and/or Rivera to determine what exactly healthy means.

The player that gives the team the best chance to win vs SF should play.

Since Cam is the better player when healthy, I don't understand sitting him vs SF.  If he isn't ready and healthy that is fine.  But if he is, how do you not play him?

It’s the rust thing that’s the issue for me.
