I find it interesting that so many Cam backers want him to sit against San Fran and return vs Tennessee

Again, if he's going to start, he's going to have a full week of practice first. That should be all he needs. How many weeks should we give a guy to become "unrusty" when he's 9 years in?

Do you want the Panthers to win and make the playoffs or do you want to just prove a dumb point on a message board?

i want to win. The best path to that is have Kyle start against the 9ers. Then give Cam the opportunity to get back into the groove against an inferior opponent. This isn’t rocket science. This isn’t babying Cam. It’s smart and logical.

He normally does choke late though. For every game like he had against Philly last year, he has a Detroit and a Washington and Tampa Bay Game 2.

Um how many late game's in 2015 did he have to pull it out after the defense choked in the 2nd half etc.

Giants game etc

Or in 2017 where the team wasnt doing chit in the new Orleans playoff game where he still drove us down and came a Funchess wiff from beating the Saints on the road in the playoffs

Honestly, if you told Cam this it would piss him off. If he is healthy he will want to go out there against the best in the league. Imagine telling Cam no no, they are way too good. Lets let you start against a bad team.

That’s what you want from a player but too bad. That’s where Rivera needs to get a set of balls.

I couldn't care less what the "backers' think on either "side". This has become silly politics  I've been caught up in it too.. All that matters is what those guys at the stadium and practice field think and do.and who is in the best position to help the team. At this point it doesnt seem to matter yet.

i mean do i want cam to die first game back? no.

if kyle allen is playing as fine as everyone (and I) says, then he should be fine one more game against the 49ers. Cam Newton needs to be healthy for the playoffs, and one game against the NFC's best defense is okay to miss in favor of keeping him healthy down the road.

Cam played a few snaps in the preseason and went out injured(his first game back). An injury that cost us two games. Why wouldn’t the 49’ers be any different than the titans?

 He can deal with it.

Sam...I actually see your point and some folks just don't want to admit it.  I want to see Kyle against a great team, but then again, I want to see how the panthers as a whole do against a great high riding team.  If Cam goes in, fine, lets see what he got.....we could win with either Cam or Kyle, we could also lose with either.  But I can see why some want to ease Cam in in fear of him looking bad and then this forum will get lit up again.  If Cam says he is healthy and coaching agree to start, NO EXCUSES.....play ball and ball out!  If he stinks it up, well then we will all wonder what IF's.....had it been Kyle starting instead.

He did do amazingly well in 2015, I would never deny that. I'm really just talking about post-2015.

But ultimately, Cam's clutch ability isn't what this thread is about. It's about whether you want to hide Cam against a stellar defense because you're afraid of what the narrative about Cam will be if he looks terrible yet again.
