I find it interesting that so many Cam backers want him to sit against San Fran and return vs Tennessee

I know not all of the Cam backers want this, so if you want him to start against San Francisco, congratulations...I'm not talking about you. But I've seen a lot of people that want Cam to get his job back that say they want him to sit one more game against San Francisco and come back against Tennessee.

If you want Cam back, you must want him back healthy. And, by all accounts so far, it looks like he'll be healthy enough to start against San Francisco if that's what Rivera decides. So what's the real reason some Cam backers don't want to see him against San Francisco? Could it be, and I'm just spitballing here, that you're afraid he's going to look terrible against San Francisco and want him to play the awful Titans as his first game back instead? Surely that's not it right? If Cam is healthy he's a top 5/MVP-caliber QB right? So why fear the 49ers? If Cam is as good as you say, shouldn't we blow the 49ers out if we add an MVP-caliber QB to a team with a defense as playing as well as it is?

i mean do i want cam to die first game back? no.

if kyle allen is playing as fine as everyone (and I) says, then he should be fine one more game against the 49ers. Cam Newton needs to be healthy for the playoffs, and one game against the NFC's best defense is okay to miss in favor of keeping him healthy down the road.

Freaking coward take. If Cam can play that means he's fully healthy and his health shouldn't be a concern. The offensive line has being playing well. You play your starters if healthy period. The only reason you wouldn't play Cam is if you're scared to death he's going to be exposed, look terrible yet again, we lose, and then you really WILL have a QB controversy.

You dont bench the hot hand but have Cam active

The first sign that the offense isnt moving the ball well, you ease him in.

Not as much damage to Allen's confidence, who you want to keep around and may need again this season (if Cam gets hurt).  And may want to hold onto to be the franchise QB in a year or 2

He’ll be rusty. Not that you care with your obvious agenda to litter this forum with “I told you he’s done” posts.

I love all the takes about how "rusty" Cam always is. It's Year 9 for him and he's going to be practicing all week. Why wasn't Kyle Allen "rusty" when he was thrown in against Arizona and easily won?

Best healthy player should start.

If Cam is healthy, that is him. If you want to sit a healthy Cam Newton because he might get hurt, then go ahead and trade him. That is ridiculous.

This is one of the rare times we agree. The people that want to baby Cam and only play him against teams that we're certain to win and let Kyle Allen take the hits against the rough defenses are telling on themselves. You're either all in with Cam or you're not.

Because he didn’t stop throwing for weeks rehabbing an injury. You really are a fuging idiot with an obvious agenda. This path is the best way for the PANTHERS to win in general.

Again, if he's going to start, he's going to have a full week of practice first. That should be all he needs. How many weeks should we give a guy to become "unrusty" when he's 9 years in?

Hey remember when OP said Cam would never lead the panthers to a 4th quarter comeback and then Cam proceeded to rifle off like 5 of them in one season. Good times.

This fan base is pathetic

He normally does choke late though. For every game like he had against Philly last year, he has a Detroit and a Washington and Tampa Bay Game 2.

    • Same... With the personnel the Niners had, that defense could have been historically good in the right hands. Under Wilks they were certainly good, they didn't quite rise to that level. Honestly, I see Wilks kinda like I see Rivera: fantastic person, decent head coach. Skill wise, phenomenal DB coach, so-so DC. His greatest strength is his leadership. Hard to find many better in that department. In the Xs and Os / execution area though, not as good. Bottom Line: Wilks is the sort of coach that needs a staff that excels in those aspects of the game where he's weaker. But, like Rivera, I don't know that he scouts assistants very well. That as much as anything might be why he's not in the NFL now.
    • Clearly the best outcome for us is a Giants W. A spot or two difference in the 4th round is inconsequential. Just look at the trade value charts. A spot or two at the top of the 1st means a LOT. A spot or two in the mid-rounds? Virtually nothing.
    • Agree. I don't think I have ever heard him say anything positive, at any time, about the Panthers. Best expectation is no mention at all.
