Why is the offense having twice as many chances to score? Kyle allen throwing for 400 a game and 4tds?? Defense my friend. Forcing turnovers.

It's crazy to see a fanbase so actively attempt to belittle and undermine their own players. In both camps. Like little children playing the "my dad can beat your dad" game.

2nd in league in INTs. Kyle Allen leads no category in NFL in scoring but carry on

That’s usually what happens when a team wins, the qb gets some of the credit. Pretty sure the same thing occurs when Cam doesn’t play great but we still win

as I said, name the season and we can talk about it.   Show me where we had a great offensive team that was held back by horrific D and missed the playoffs. 

Cam has carried the offense.  That doesn't mean the offenses have been great....let down by a weak defense.  We have had bad defenses though.  And when we have them? We generally don't win.  Because we aren't an offensive team and haven't been w/ Cam.  Cam just does most of the offensive lifting.

Somehow they have confused Cam carrying one side of the ball with that side of the ball actually being great compared to the rest of the NFL.

 

poo In the SB for example we held the Broncos to 24 points with 7 of those being on the offense directly and a bs PI call on Norman. Plus other fumbles like from Tolbert.
Defense was more than good enough to win a SB that year but we all knew Shula would Shula us eventually.

I also blame fantasy football to a degree.  Cam pretty much put up great numbers his entire career when healthy.  Because he was the offense largely.   But our overall O hasn't ever really been great using the Cam model.  

which isn't a knock.  As I believe in complementary football.  Cam being a one man O allowed us to put talent on D.   A healthy Cam and a healthy Ron D....is something I would bet on.  I mean that is good formula to me.

Referencing the Buddy Ryan philosophy again...

Ryan's idea of offense was just to have Randall Cunningham make a couple of big plays a game so that his defense could take care of the rest.

Rivera pretty much used the same method with Newton. And while they arguably did it better than Ryan and Cunningham, they still produced the same number of championships.

Zero.

Rivera ultimately moved on from that and turned to Norv Turner, so we're working from a very different philosophy right now, with different ideas on what the quarterback is supposed to do.

With what time Turner had with Cam, he pretty well proved this was a better way to go. It's also a system that Kyle Allen can be successful in.

Allen certainly wouldn't have worked out in the old approach, but luckily we're not using the old approach anymore.

The defense usually carries the team under RR and John Fox.  This isn't anything new. 

What I can't figure out is some years the defense gets a bunch of turnovers and the past couple of years this hasn't been the case.  Turnovers make a huge difference and if this team continues to play defense like they are doing plus continue getting turnovers . . . this team will go deep in the playoffs.

Cam’s rookie season, and last year when the defense kept blowing games and were ranked 32nd for about a month 

 

The offense hasn't been great but it has been better the defense the majority of the Cam era
