CHARLOTTE -- The Panthers will have a new returner coming out of the bye week.

Carolina has waived Ray-Ray McCloud, a cut-day acquisition who has been the team's punt and kick returner since the start of the season.

McCloud returned 10 punts for 82 yards (39 yards was his longest effort), but he fumbled the ball three times. His fumbled punt against Tampa Bay this past Sunday set up a Bucs touchdown. The second-year wide receiver from Clemson fumbled twice against Tampa Bay in the Week 2 matchup.

The Panthers also released wide receiver Tyron Johnson from the practice squad.

But, the question is, do we bring Godwin back now?  He's still just in the Jags' PS as far as I know.

They might, but I really don't feel any more comfortable with him back there.  He had a muff also in preseason.  1 good game and the other 3 were nothing special.

    • There is merit to the points you're making here. On the flip side one could argue it took us investing 150 million in the oline for him to have a breakout season. And he has still yet to hit 1k rushing yards in a season. As far as Brooks goes the position does not require that significant of a draft investment for many other teams. That's not being negative it's just a matter of fact. The 49ers did quite well with a UDFA running back while McCaffrey was out. It is understandable that some people have concerns. That being said it boils down to whether or not you believe in the player. We just have to see what happens with him and Brooks.
    • Okay, that day in Vegas had to embarrass him completely. Andy showed him how to do the job.  What I think when I go there, why did it take Andy? He has had game after game of watching actual NFL QBs work and that didn't do it?  Anyhow Andy did not mess around, he stood in there and did his job and got rid of the ball ahead of the pressure. Down the field. With the same players Bryce had. Night and day.  If that didn't wake him up nothing ever would. But I don't think he has any sort of top NFL QB in him, he just lacks the full tool kit.
    • Team is dangerous right now, all four lines are contributing and the speed at which the guys play at is tremendous.
