SB nation article says you are stupid if you think there's a true QB controversy

It's still early, but Kyle is pretty talented as a QB and appears to be getting better. I say let him play against San Fran. If you want to bring Cam back do it against Tennessee, a home game. Playing Cam against San Fran is setting him up for failure IMO knowing he's going to be rusty and the timing will be off with receivers.

Houston and Jacksonville have good defenses (ranked 12th and 8th).  Tampa took away the run and made us one dimensional.  Kyle made plays and did not throw the ball away.   You can only beat the team in front of you--

Jacksonville’s best defensive player wasn’t even playing

I think I've been pretty clear on why I think the phrase is prejudicial. Your use of the phrase "literal reality" belies either a lack of understanding or willful misuse of either those words. The thing cannot be objectively proven, it is subjective opinion, so asserting literal reality is disingenuous and intellectually dishonest.

You're arguing with someone that has a demonstrable history of borderline personality disorder.  He used to largely contain it in TB, but he ran everyone out of there... so's he brought it here.  For whatever reason, Philly has followed him and abandoned almost all semblance of civil discourse in the process.

I agree. A lot of dumb people on this site. But many of them have ulterior motives for wanting Kyle over cam

Ya know, what I really dislike about framing things this way is that it takes a big steaming sh-t on someone like our resident film guy / blogger Ellis.

Ellis is someone who's been really big on Kyle Allen from the beginning. Hell, I went back and forth with him over it plenty, but after last Sunday I conceded the debate. He was right (still is).

Beyond that though, Ellis has posted a lot a very well written, well thought out study and breakdown of Allen (other things too). Nowhere has he written anything like "Newton is done" or that he wants him to be, just that he thinks Kyle Allen is really, really good.

That's the kind of thing I wish we had more of here, not "if you disagree with me you're stupid and racist".

if allen is going to be treated as competition for the starting job once cam is healthy then he absolutely should be evaluated on the exact same terms as cam. his supporters know that's a losing argument though so they want his performance to be measured against other young, udfa's while simply expecting others to accept that he's legitimate competition for ~reasons~

if you want to talk about how much potential or whatever he has, fine, do that. but that doesn't get to serve as a placeholder for high level performance when this roster might be super bowl worthy. im not interested in watching a kyle allen take his lumps at the expense of our competitive window.

This is a more reasonable argument that I can mostly agree with. I'm not yet convinced that we're potential Super Bowl contenders, because we have yet to beat a high level team. The good news is that opportunity is coming soon. If we challenge for the division title against a NO team that looks formidable even without Brees, then yes I'd have to agree that it would not be wise to sacrifice our season just to watch a young qb develop. But regardless, we need to evaluate both of these qb's and I think evaluating Cam has to take precedence for a couple reasons. If in doing so we find ourselves able to compete toe to toe in the postseason, by all means full steam ahead, because that will have meant Cam has taken the reigns and returned to form.

If Cam stumbles, I think the conversation is different, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Let's see how this team stacks up against the 49er's.

Not everyone that dislikes cam is because of racism

The people on here that dislike him for disingenuous reasons don't hide those reasons. They're easy to spot

Noted, but call me muleheaded, I prefer to make these determinations for myself. No offense to you, but I have had other posters in other forums warn me off of bothering to argue with so and so because they are mental, not because it was true, but because they disliked the person in question. I tend to insist on forming my own opinions of people rather than accepting secondhand assessments.

I think it's perfectly natural for any fanbase to question a 30 year old running QBs ability to return to apex prime after being injured for the better part of two seasons and being winless in his last 8 games. Especially taking the shots he has.

If Cam comes in I hope he freaking slays it...because I want to win. I could care less about who's under center if we are winning.

In the famous words of John Fox....stats are for losers. Give me wins. I want them crablegs.

Still parroting the ignorant statemrbtvthatvanyonecwho questions cam dies so because of race.

you might only see race...but most (including myself) don’t give two shits about someone’s race, sexual orientation, etc.

i don’t care about anything other than performance.  And Cam was a weapon when he was a big force in the run game.  If (when healthy) he can’t it won’t do that, he is not an elite qb.  His mechanics, accuracy, etc has always been his weakness....and they have not really improved in his career.  And don’t talk about last year’s improvement in accuracy stats....he stopped throwing downfield and beacon captain checkdown.

i would love to see the old cam....I just don’t know whether a 30 yo who has taken the physical pounding he has will ever be that again.
