Armanti Edwards

How many of you guys on here are paid talent scouts??? Seriously, knocking a guy because of his height by implying Edwards is too short for QB, when the Panthers have one of the smallest receivers in the league is funny i think. Just because a guy is short doesnt mean he wont be successful-think Doug Flutie...

But why take a chance on a guy who doesn't have the measurables when there are plenty of guys who do. It isn't like there aren't a bunch of guys to choose from. Edwards is the kind of guy you pick up as an undrafted free agent. If he doesn't pan out you have little to nothing invested. If he surprises then you get a bonus. But there is no reason to draft him unless his combine numbers or production are out the roof.

That is a joke...

Just think about what Michael Vick and Vince Young did to the best D1 defenses in the country while they were in college. They no longer start in the NFL. Do us all a favor and stop with the spread option QBs that have zero professional ability.

Weak analogy. Look at what Matt Leinart & Brady Quinn did to the best D1 defenses in the country while they were in college. They dont start in the NFL. Pocket passing QBs with limited athletic ability dont make it in the NFL.

And athletic running quarterbacks who can't throw out of the pocket don't play or start. Not a surprise that Chad Henne is the quarterback for Miami over Pat White.

Its Pat White's rookie season. LOL. Henne was the #2 last year before White even got there. That really aint saying much, and given with how well Henne has played so far, Pat is in a great situation to eventually start. With how much faster and better defensive players are getting you better have somebody back there with some agility and swagger. You see whats happening to the statue we have in the pocket right now.

Fact remains, Armanti shouldnt be judged by what Mike Vick or Vince Young do. Cuz no one looks at Cutler or Stafford and holds Ryan Leaf, Brodie Croyle, and Jeff George over their heads.

The comparison to Vick and Young is legit because you're looking at run-first QBs. When you look at a highlight reel and see the biggest plays and a majority of the plays are runs, you have yourself a running QB. Being athletic is a nice bonus but you have to be able to pass the ball first.

IF Fox is still coach next season, I can see drafting a QB "of the future" that fox has no intentions on actually grooming or competing for the job, as long as Delhomme is here. Weather or not that QB is good enough to actually win it. I've noticed Fox likes stacking the deck in the favor of "his guys" Jake being the main one. When another QB is put in, they are forced to one dimensional and look almost as bad as Jake. Thus Fox proving himself right, which is all that matters to him.

i do.

jay cutler...jeff george. not a whole lot of difference there as far as their careers are going to go and matt stafford shouldn't have been taken that early.

i don't think that anyone will touch ryan leaf status for a long time but the idea of trading up for a QB without much starting experience in college should definitely be done with ryan leaf in mind.

Being a run first FCS quarterback, the odds aren't in his favor. Few FCS quarterbacks make it in the NFL (A Flacco is very very rare) and few run first QB's make it. Mix the two together and you have a very low chance of success. Not only that, but most of those guys are drafted/picked up to play other positions and never really get much of a chance.

Forget Armanti Edwards, how about The Golden Calf of Bristol. Now I know there is a 0.01 % chance that the Panthers could or even would draft him, but this guy is going to be a stud. Of course there is some doubt where The Golden Calf of Bristol will play but this 6'3, 245 lb athlete will play at Quarterback. If drafted by the right team he could be one of the best football players ever. Indianapolis, New England, and Miami would all be good fits for him based on there formations. Indy and NE run somewhat of a pass-first spread offense, where Miami tends to use a run-first spread offense. In the end The Golden Calf of Bristol will be an amazing player, MARK MY WORDS!!!
