If you're inclined to argue a position without presenting any facts or solid reasoning to back it up other than "I know things about the motivations of people who are public figures that I don't spend time with but feel free to speculate about anyway." then I'm not sure this conversation is going anywhere productive. So far all you're offering is speculation. I'm speculating as well, but my speculation is backed by several millions of dollars worth of buildings and the reasoning that leaving it would be financially dubious, doubly so for a guy who made his fortune managing other people's money.

I'm not saying it will happen. I'm saying not to rule it out by any means. Tepper throwing some millions into a practice facility and then ditching it would be the equivalent of you or me buying a sandwich, taking a bite and throwing it in the trash. Doesn't make even a dent. He'd abandon that project in a second if he doesn't get his way.

Did the owners of any of those franchises leave within a short period of time of investing millions of their own money into new facilities for the team? I'm not dubious of the notion pro sports franchises put cities and states in the prisoner's dilemma in order to extract tax breaks and other goodies from the public purse, I'm just dubious of a guy actually moving under those present circumstances.

You're arguing out of thin air that the evidence contrary to your notion has no weight, but you're presenting absolutely nothing that puts any weight whatsoever on your side of the table. Even if the practice facility is only a ham sandwhich, and that's debatable when you're talking about somebody for whom basis points of ROI make huge differences, at the moment, that ham sandwhich outweighs the nothing sitting on the move side of the scale.

I promise not to rule out the possibility that the Panthers are moved during my lifetime. I agree that would be foolish. Anytime in the forseeable future, I'm ruling that out. Call me reckless.

How do you assess extracting as much taxpayer money as possible as "trying to plant the franchise deeper into the community"?
