I'm not sure Allen is the guy we hope he is but it at least seems slightly plausible. The best possible scenario for the team, assuming he's legit, would be to trade vs pay out the sphincter to an aging QB.

Depending on the draft next year, a few of those teams might have taken themselves off the list by drafting a QB prospect in the 1st round anyways.  The market is just realistically not going to be robust at all.

Matt Ryan is having one of the best seasons of his career. His highest completion percentage at over 72%. Over 100 rating. On pace to throw the most TDs and yards of his career. They aren't trading for Newton.

I think you'd have to say at this point that the prospects of Newton getting a blockbuster contract from the Panthers are slim, and getting slimmer.

If Kyle continues to play well and the franchise is convinced that Cam can't return to where he was and we can get a good first round pick then it's a possibility. That is a lot of ands. But we don't get dinged with much dead money if he goes.
