Kyle Allen's numbers

If he makes the decision to trade Newton that would mean that Allen has shown more than he has the past 4 weeks.  If Allen does that, I am completely fine.

My issue is we aren't getting those 30 yard td drives often enough on our short field turn overs.

Against Tampa Bay, we had 1 TD drive of less than 30 yards.  While we had like 3 short drive field goals.

And to be fair, there were dropped passes and a stout Bucs run D that didn't allow us to cash in. Not fair to pin it all on Allen not being able to drive us on those short fields. Not to say he's faultless, but you're building a bit of a strawman to knock down.

Interesting how whenever anything positive happens, we should only focus on Allen.

But anything negative, we have to do everything we can to give Allen an excuse.

ALL ALLEN DOES IS GET Ws! (ignore CMC and the defense).  LOOK AT THAT PASSER RATING!

What?  Something negative about Allen?  Try to find someone else to blame it on.  Remember, its a team game and he can't do everything.  Not all actions are his fault.

I don't think I am defending Allen as much as being fair. Just like when Cam was getting crap I think it was the year before or right after the SB and people were talking about his completion percentage on a season where more than half of all pass attempts were considered drops by his receivers.

I defended Cam in much the same way as I am Allen right now (seriously, every Monday morning at work it's "ready to say Cam is done yet?" by all my coworkers). By presenting the facts and as close to an unbiased view as I can given that I am a massive fan of the team

Good enough to be 4-0 with this team.

All I care about.

Lets go.

The thread title infers this isn't a ra-ra bandwagon thread. This is a discussion of statistics. I know you love to jump on whatever player is making noise at camp, or doing well for a game or two, and ride the hype, but at least keep it to your own threads.

Pretty much.

If you can watch that 99 yard drive from yesterday and not feel good about it though, I'd seriously question your objectivity.

I've spent the last several weeks arguing with people that we don't know whether or not Allen is good enough yet. What I saw yesterday looked pretty good.

Bigger test is coming in two weeks but when it comes to the debate I've been having with @ellis, I haven't written my concession speech yet but I am considering some possible opening lines.

And yet the entire point of this thread is to pick out the specific stats that make Allen look really good, with no mention of other variables that are outside of his control which are effecting things.

But the moment any negative is stated?  Well, time to blame others.

Don't get me wrong, I love what Allen is doing.  But, to me, he hasn't shown himself to be anything other than a really really good back up that has long term potential.

I gave almost ALL the stats relevant to judging a QB. Next gen stuff like how a QB does vs blitz and whatnot, I simply do not know where to find all that stuff and didn't bother searching it. Instead, I went with the sheer productivity numbers. Not all of which show some elite passer. Many put him middle of the pack.

I have no problem with people saying negative things about Kyle Allen. There are times where he needs to be more aware of the ball when he's moving around the pocket, there are times when he throws a risky ball. I have no issues with people pointing out that stuff. But to downplay the impact he has had on this offense? Absurd. If this were Cam, you'd be upset at some of the idiots around here ready to downplay Cam just as much as I would be. That's the point. You don't have to downplay Allen just because some of those same people are now claiming Allen is king.

Yeah our WOs dropped some real good passes yesterday.
