Cam should start vs SF and thoughts on Kyle Allen

Cam won’t be ready in two weeks not sure where this assumption he will be is coming from.

I can see some negatives for starting Cam bs the 49ers.

The team might not like the the boat being rocked since they are winning.

If Cam plays bad vs the 49ers, which they have a pretty good defense, you really will have a QB controversy on your hands.

The most likely way to ease Cam back into the starting job is to let KA play against the 49ers.  If he is as limited as some on here think then he is going to play bad anyway and we will lose and you can easily insert cam back into the starters job.

Much more likely for Cam to start with a win vs Tenn at home. 
 

If KA plays well and we beat 49ers on the road then maybe his so called ceiling is higher than some think and you consider letting him play out the season.

Rust is a factor for a QB that hasn’t played in 6 weeks.  Not only will he be rusty from not playing but he still hasn’t had a lot of reps on that shoulder (and we know from other QBs that takes awhile)

Wins are wins in the NFL.  All that matters really is getting to the postseason and  a new season essentially starts 

Our O will need to be clicking to have a shot vs SF.  Allen a better option.  Not because he is better but our O could be

Yea I saw they benched Mariotta today that is clearly the game if there is a game to bring Cam back.

    Why does Cam need to be rusty? If he is healthy enough to start, he is healthy enough to practice. He should not start without a full week of full participation at practice. 

 

    Let me put it this way. There are only 2 ways Cam sees the field this year. He is fully healthy, and ready to go. Or Kyle crashes and burns. Otherwise, let him heal.

Practice is practice.  Games are games. 

You see it when NFL seasons start.  Takes awhile for offenses to get going.   They have been practicing for months. 

I’m all about the return of Newton.  And I started 2 weeks ago saying Tenn should be the earliest.  Because even if healthy he has two things working against him vs SF....normal rust and a shoulder he has thrown back into shape yet 

should be a non-discussion, as I think it is clear Allen starts the next game based on what Ron has hinted

You gotta play the hot hand. Kyle Allen has to stay on the field until he gives us a reason not to at this point..if he starts messing up put in our former MVP and see what he has left in the tank.

I agree cam should start when he’s ready.

as far as Allen it’s too early to tell. He’s 23 years old. If he puts in the work, as of now, I see no reason he can’t be a franchise qb. Time will tell though.

Face it folks. Cam is not coming back against the 49ers. Reason I say this is because doctors told him he shouldnt stand on his feet more than 3 hrs. Even with a bye til doc says he is good to start then he has to practice a solid week and show he is 100%. We dont need to Durant Cam and throw him out there to hurt himself worse. As long as Allen is compiling wins we are good. Look for Cam to be back against Tennessee or the next game after.
