People want a controversy so bad when there is none.

Kyle Allen has a great team he’s playing with and this is what happens when you play efficiently, no turnovers while our defense pulls 6 from the other team.

At the same time, take the great team away from him and let him play for some of the other panthers teams Cam has had to play with,.. and he gets killed.

you can’t compare a backup undrafted guy to a Heisman winner, guy who brought Auburn back from a score worst than 28-3 to win the SEC, MVP with almost 20 separate records since he’s come into the league—- when he’s been hurt for a year.

keep in mind Cam was in the conversation for MVP again last year when we 6-2.

the salty guys that were wrong in 2011 sat around for 9 years and have been waiting to make a controversy.

No disrespect at all to Cam, but to paraphrase Kevin Costner in Bull Durham, you don't mess with a streak. We ride with Allen until he is hurt or plays poorly. It might be quite a streak!

I thought it was interesting when Rich Eisen brought up on the broadcast that Todd Bowles said the Panthers were harder to prepare for with Allen than they had been in Week 2 with Newton. 

Still, I saw the vintage Rivera team relax in the second half. If you get seven turnovers, you really ought to win by more than 11.

Look guys, nobody is throwing Newton under the bus, and nobody is hoping for a quarterback controversy. There are people trolling, but you're better off ignoring that crap.

Here's the truth though...

It's a fact of life for every player in the NFL that at some point, you are going to be replaced. Cam Newton is no exception.

Whether he's been mishandled or whose fault it might be that he didn't do this or that is another discussion. The only really definitive thing that you can say is that his time is going to come to an end. Might be sooner, might be later, might be now.

If this is that time, then I'll feel bad for Newton that he didn't accomplish his goals. Truth be told though, he's had a longer and more successful career than a lot of other guys have. Nothing to be ashamed of there.

What I will not, however, in any way regret if it happens, is seeing the Panthers win with whomever replaces him.

Any and all hopes for player success are an extremely distant second to my hopes for team success, and no apology will be offered for feeling that way because none is warranted.

That's football.

And just for the record, you can recycle this post when Luke Kuechly and Christian McCaffrey and anybody else come to the end of their careers too. It'll be the same story there as well.
