I don't think we can bench Kyle Allen...

This team is carrying a game manager and everyone wants to throw Cam under the bus weekly for not being healthy, and for not having control at who starts at left tackle.

Nobody is throwing Cam under the bus because of his injury, rather his ineffectiveness.  Cam was 0-2 with same OL that Allen has.  Better yet, Allen had a 6th round rookie with a groin injury starting at LT today.  Is it people are throwing Cam under the bus or others making excuses for him?  I'm a Panthers fan, so whether it's Kyle Allen or Cam Newton that supplies the wins, I could care less.  This League is about production and right now Kyle Allen is the one producing.

This, and I can’t understand why “Panther fans” think people are turning on Cam. He is not his best self, regardless. Pull for your team not the player. We got a “W”, celebrate not whine.

Yep, that game turned into a defensive battle, but he'd thrown for nearly 350 yards in each of the previous playoff games with the Pats putting up 41 and 37 points in those games, including a shootout vs. Mahomes and the Chiefs. They don't get past the Chiefs with game manager style QB play.

Colts just did a week ago.

it's really not as complicated as all this. cam doesn't need to come back into the lineup immediately because even if he's medically cleared to play, he has been medically cleared about a thousand times and still was playing through pain. allen has earned the opportunity to see this run through and to take this team as far as he can. because without him, we might be looking at 0-5 and talking too much about the draft. cam has never taken enough time with his injuries and it has hurt this team time and again. shut him down for another month and reevaluate then. if he doesn't like it, show him game footage of the first two weeks of the season when he wasn't honest enough about his body to be playing.

when mccaffrey got hurt bonnafon came in and easily ripped off a huge touchdown run. as you can see we rushed mccaffrey back today and the running game suffered. now we were lucky to have a guy like kyle allen under center to overcome that but it goes to show that maybe "good" players should lose their starting job to injury

We didn't rush him back. CMC said himself he was fine, and he missed practice for a vet day. The Bucs just have a great run D now and sold out to stop him.

We won't know until we have a game where our D struggles, the other team is containing CMC and Allen has to put us on his back.

Good point. I literally have no idea if he can or can't deliver. At this point I'm just watching and hoping for the best.

I still wouldn't say I know for sure whether he can deliver against a playoff quality team, but I do know I'm getting more and more convinced each time I watch him.

Darin Gantt had a pretty good explanation of where you draw the line between a backup and a starter.

Per Gantt, a backup is a guy you just hope won't lose the game. A starter is a guy you believe can win it.

As to Allen, Greg Olsen made the statement this week that he's helping them win games. I'd say Olsen seems to consider him worthy of being called a starter.

Again, still want to see how it plays out when we face a more complete team, but there's been a lot of good so far.

And what may be the most important factor of all, Allen has improved. It's probably fair to say he hasn't hit his ceiling yet.

Basically, stay tuned.

I feel like I didn't watch the same game.

We caused 7 turnovers.  7.

And it was only an 11 point game that was still fairly close at the end.

We punted the ball 7 times.  Our offense was anemic.  Our defense once again bailed us out, because Allen wasn't able to get the offense going.  Again.

Tampa Bay had over 400 yards of offense.  We had 268.

I don't care about his QBR if he isn't actually moving the ball and scoring TDs.
