I don't think we can bench Kyle Allen...

The bye week does us a huge favour as it means the decision on who the QB will be in San Francisco is 10 or more days away. Hopefully, the media speculation will die down this week too as I assume most Panthers' officials will get a break until next Monday.

The difficulty is going to come when Cam is told by his Doctors that he's 100% or close to. That may well come after San Francisco, or may not come at all this season. However, if it does happen, he's going to agitate like hell to get back in, whether Kyle remains unbeaten or not and the media will be a pain in the arse.

For me, an unbeaten quarterback trumps a fit Cam but if Cam does fully recover and Kyle loses a couple then would see the return of QB1.

Next year, who knows but the idea of a new Carson Wentz type of contract for Cam doesn't look likely, unless it's some other team picking up the tab...

You can bench him

Look this team has been fantastic th last 4 weeks.

But Cam's still Cam

Cam was better than his MVP season last year under this same Norv system prior to injury

Kyle has been fortunate to be playing with

- the first RB in MVP conversation jn over a decade (LT)

- a top 5 D

- best OL since 2015

- and opponents combined record of 6-11-1

- and hasnt had to come from behind and Truely Win us a game.

This is like Clemson last year

Allen is like Kelly Bryant, good enough to win games with all the talent around him

While healthy Cam is like Lawerence who has the tools and everything to be legit title contenders with him

Absolutely. What's deranged are the people who became fans after 2010 that seem more interested in Newton than the team winning.

This is the bullshit narrative that is floated out when people are called out for their unjustifiable ignorance in regards to Cam and what he means to this franchise. It's lazy.

Direct comparison is us losing to this TB team at home against destroying them in London with basically same roster except for QB.   Granted TB OLine have their own injuries and Cam was clearly not in good form but the difference between two games was huge.

Yes Cam was injured and did not play well. How about Directly comparing the defensive performances also...we'll wait.

Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, Emmitt Smith, Brett Favre and numerous other examples all "meant something" to their franchises, yet they all finished their careers with somebody else, and all for the same reason. Their teams believed it was time to hand the reins to someone else.

It sucks to see, but it happens...a lot.

Is he?

If so, sure. But I don't think that's anywhere close to guaranteed.

Idk

None of us know.

Only the staff knows.  If they think he is I trust them

Same can be said, is Allen a legit QB1

He hanst faced competition and he hasnt had to do anything because the talent around him has gotten them to the lead while against weak competition  and he just had to make sure to hold on

That's exactly the kind of take Greg Olsen is calling out as false.

Let's face it. Let's face the facts. Kyle Allen is an elite quarterback in the National Football League. He is 4-0, with 2 road wins and one in flippin London for cryin' out loud. He is the future of this franchise. PERIOD. End of discussion. I will always love Cam Newton, but this is a results-oriented league and right now Cam is simply not what the future of the franchise needs.

On a different wavelength, what are y'all's thoughts on potentially signing Antonio Brown? Tepper said he's all about talent and willing to take risks with potentially PR-liable players (think Eric Reid and the flag). Would be curious to hear y'all's thoughts

Yeah, that's never gonna happen.

What is really going to stink up this forum is and IF Kyle loses ONE game, like LOL the cam fanbase is going to erupt with told you so and etc...  But blind to the fact how many games has Cam lost?  But even I won't blame all on Cam because it was and is a team effort, there is always some nit picky stuff that happens that could have or did change the course of the game, whether it was Cam or defense going soft as well as anything else.
