I don't think we can bench Kyle Allen...

Ah, the "unnamed sources" bit. Juicy.

LOL!

Well, not all unnamed...

And honestly, this quote...

What one Panthers team source said Sunday after they beat Tampa Bay 37-26 was this: "No one really saw this coming, and now it's a tough decision."

...isn't exactly implausible.

It's unbelievable how many fans don't understand that it's the norm for players to downplay injuries. That's football culture. They've been taught all their lives that if they can get medical clearance they're expected to play. If not, they're labeled as "soft".

Cam himself has said that he couldn't watch his mates do battle and not be out there with them. He felt he let them down by not playing. Of course that guy is going to stretch the truth about his injuries.

Yeah, almost everyone was saying 2-4, if we were lucky. Hellz bellz, we all thought the season was over. Even the optimist were having a hard time getting excited.

Now we are on the cusp of a bonafide QB controversy. It is amazing what a 4 game winning streak can do.

That's plausible, assuming Allen continues to play well. It's also a far cry from saying this is already Kyle Allen's team and Cam is as good as gone.

You'll also notice though that, when asked, Rivera isn't saying it's Cam's team either.

Why in the world would Rivera come out and say, "Yeah, we're benching this guy the first chance we get." What's to be gained in that?

The bottom line is that yes, we're 4-0 with Allen. But we're 4-0 against teams that are a combined 10-13-1 with CMC leading the NFL in yards from scrimmage by well over 100 yards and our defense forcing turnovers like crazy giving us a 14-5 turnover advantage in those games.

Allen is doing his job but I think people are getting way ahead of themselves trying to crown Allen while ignoring these other circumstances with the team right now that likely aren't sustainable over the course of the entire season.

When Derek Anderson was our backup, did you ever hear Rivera equivocate about who the starter was?

Throw in the reports from Rapoport and Freeman and it becomes pretty clear, the question is being asked.

You can debate whether it should be or shouldn't be but all indications are that it is.

Hell, I guess it wouldn't be shocking. Rivera has kind of made botching depth chart decisions a hallmark of his tenure.

So, we can't look at what Newton was doing a year ago and we're forced to only look at what he was doing playing on one leg?

Sure, let's compare.

Through their first four games of the season:
Cam: 7 TDs, 3 INTs, 883 yards, 64.7 completion pct, 92.8 QBR, 3-1
Kyle: 7 TDs, 0 INTs, 901 yards, 65.6 completion pct, 106.6 QBR, 4-0

Also add in another 136 yards and 3 TDs for Cam on the ground. 6 fumbles for Allen, 2 for Cam.

Damm that Kyle Allen. Damm him to heck. Oh yeah, what about Cam played against tougher teams. And his Oline was whack. Yaha yada yada smaller windows.

So happy for Kyle. He has kilt it. Stupid Kyle. He was only supposed to hold down the fort, not take command of the whole danged army.

Let Cam heal. Kyles' got this.

I didn't use to think this fanbase was that biased against Cam, but seeing how much a game manager is getting praised has changed my mind.

Kyle Allen played one of the worst pass defenses today, and threw a little over 60% and just over 220 yards right, two touchdowns? Tampa Bay turned the ball over 7 times, with 4 times in their own territory. Kyle didn't make any special throws, though that's understandable as the receivers were wide open a lot of time with Tampa Bay having one of the worst pass defense (was the worst, did the Falcons take that spot now?) in the NFL, giving up until today around 300 yards a game. Kyle missed a lot of throws, threw into double coverage, and again was staring down his first read. He also bailed on the pocket early a few times as well.

I don't know. He just looks like a typical game manager getting carried to me. Usually a good quarterback is going to blowout a team that turns the ball over 7 times. Maybe I'm crazy right.

Direct comparison is us losing to this TB team at home against destroying them in London with basically same roster except for QB.   Granted TB OLine have their own injuries and Cam was clearly not in good form but the difference between two games was huge.

Tampa Bay's offensive line has declined to the worst in the league. The 7 turnovers, 4 being short fields, were the biggest difference, and were a direct result of their poor offensive line play.
