I don't think we can bench Kyle Allen...

Did he lose a fumble last game? I don't recall but it definitely wasn't like the previous week. Thus, it's fair to say he's improved his ball security on hits.

I'd add that calling a guy who's gone five games without throwing a single interception a turnover machine is a bit disingenuous.

He is avg 1 fumble lost per game this season. No fumbles lost the last 2 games.

No small task.

He is 56 attempts from erasing Dak Prescott from the record books

Kyle Allen has 121 attempts without an interception to start a career.  The record is 176 set by Dak Prescott

Edit:153 attempts after today, so so only 24 attempts away

Rumor is Cam won’t be ready by San Fran that will be the real test, if the team loses or it’s CMC that beats the Niners you bring Cam back in, we’ve gotten some luck on who we’ve gone against and Allen against a good playoff caliber team will let us know where we are

also i just want to throw out something regarding the lack of deep balls

a.) i think it's more schematic than ability. I think Allen really freaked out the staff with those two games where he was just putting the ball on the ground. They don't want to put him in a position where someone could get a hand in there.

b.) kyle threw one of the prettiest deep balls you'll ever see today, it just went through Wright's hands.

He hits them from time to time. That’s Norv’s system though. How often did Aikman hit Irvin for 50 yard TD? That’s what I’m saying.

Not as often as people think.

Their longball guy for several years was Alvin Harper, but even after he signed a big free agent deal they still won without him.

Heck, if you run a WCO, you're only throwing downfield occasionally. More frequently you're just getting it into the hands of your speed receiver and letting them run with it.

Our roster is well-built for that approach.

Listen man we barely lost with Cam playing with a fractured foot, I don't think anybody realize that part of it. We have a healthy QB so we're winning like we should. A healthy Cam showed me what he can do with Norv last season

The problem I see with Cam is this injury caused him to lose needed reps with his new throwing motion. If he play, he'll be rusty and that's something we don't need trying to push for the playoffs with 2 losses already.

The Panthers need to play the guy that gives them the best chance to win regardless of what consequences it has for Newton, Allen or anybody else..

Who that is right now is the only question that matters.

We heard Ron Rivera say those very words at the podium toward the end of last season, only to have David Tepper go downstairs and tell RR to bench him and start someone else

When asked today about what they'll do when Newton comes back, Rivera responded "we'll see". I've also heard him use the phrase "Kyle is our starter."

Does that mean anything?

Guess we'll find out in a couple of weeks.

Cam's foot will fully recover during the season

Not only do I have doubt that it will recover fully during the season, I have doubt that he will ever be the Cam of old with a foot one play away from a Lisfranc repairing surgery.  Look at Olsen' Jones fracture as an example.  Sure he has come back but he had a screw installed to hold that joint together, and much as I love Olsen's play,  anyone who says he is what he was 3 years ago,  pre break,  is fooling themselves.  Feet are a damn tough place to injure and recover from.  I know first hand.  And while listening to the radio broadcast today, J Gross was mentioned how that the lower on the body an injury is,  the more difficult it is to recover from for a football player.   You can not get much lower on your body than your foot.  Cams style of play relys heavily on mobility, running,  and the power of pushing off that foot.  He is never going to be the Cam of old.  Anyone who thinks so is fooling themselves.  Not even going to mention the shoulder .

Absolutely. But by that I mean he has to go into practice. prove he is capable of making the throws, going through his reads, running when necessary, all the things hes going to be asked to do as a starter. He has to do those things to "win" his job back.

If he cant, then he shouldn't be starting anyway.

that's being healthy haha
