Butker missed an easy field goal today too and he's not a ROOKIE.

GIve Slye an entire season to find his way and stop the whining until then.

I don't think he's garbage, but I don't think he is the next Adam Vinatieri/Justin Tucker either. He is probably somewhere in between, an average to above average kicker. If we cut him, he will be picked up quickly.

Can't remember who said this (might have been our former GM) bit it's true.

There are maybe three or four elite kickers out there.

There are also two or three that are horrible and probably need to be cut.

The rest are, as the saying goes, fair to middlin'.

Basically, they are to field goals what Brett Favre was to passing, i.e. sometimes amazing, sometimes amusing.

Generally speaking, as long as you've got more than good than bad, you just keep rolling until you hopefully have a chance to find something better.

It's a 60 yard kick. Those aren't exactly just a  "give me" kick to make even without pressure

Sixty yards is still a pretty tough kick, though.

Hell, plenty of kickoffs travel the distance to the end zone, but how many of them do you see within the uprights?

Plus it was damp as hell out there. Lotta mishandling of the football all around. The fumble we didn’t recover for example, looked like guys trying to catch an oiled pig

I dont blame him at all for missing the free kick. Sure would have been cool if he had. Its got to be awkward kicking in the mid field logo on top of it being a weird situation and setup.

He is streaky, after that blocked FG I had a feeling he may be off his game for a bit.
