That said, this is like the Cam situation. The Gano fans seem to want Slye to fail. He’s our kicker this year. Gano can’t come back so we should hope he corrects it and gets back to the first few games.

Never judge a kicker until they've had three rough games in a row... then start judging. Kicking is mostly skill, a fair amount of leg strength and a ton of mental resiliency. How they come back from that rough patch will tell you a lot.

Give him time. With Gano on the couch for the season, it's better to stick with Slye and let him play through the problems then to pick over the detritus of the remaining unclaimed kickers out there.

I'd rather see slye miss crucial field goals instead of gano missing them. Gano is the anti clutch.

And most (all?) of those makes, the team was comfortably in the lead.

A game winning/icing attempt is going to come up at some point, and i'm very much concerned.  No Gano who kicked multiple 50 and 60+ yard game winners.

Lets see how the rest of the season plays out. I'm not writing him off just yet. It would be nice to see him finish the year strong and have an opportunity to cut Gano and use that savings for extensions that are coming.

I really wish we'd hire a kicking coach.

It's true that most teams don't do thay anymore, but a lot of teams used to. And with all due respect to Chase Blackburn, I'd much rather have somebody who knows kicking coaching our guys on that than our former linebacker / special teams coach.
