Ron’s seat turns cold

I think it’s safe to say that Ron is safe. All of they hype has been around Kyle Allen being undefeated, but the unsung hero here has been a Ron Rivera and how he has the defense playing.

We’ve been playing at a 2015 level of defense and Ron deserves a lot of credit for this. I’ve said for a long time that Cam and Ron Rivera are a bad pair. Cam needs an Andy Reid type guy who can take advantage of his unique skill set. Ron needs someone to sustain drives, takes what the defense gives him, and doesn’t take any risk in the passing game. Kyle Allen gives him that. Cam isn’t a game manager. He’s going to hold onto the ball, he’s going to look for the big play and he thrives when playing uptempo which isn’t good when you’re looking to keep your defense rested.

What you’re seeing is Ron with a QB that better fits his football philosophy. I’ll always say I’d rather have Cam over Kyle, but I just don’t believe Cam and Rivera are the best fit.

Let's see what he does when Cam returns.  If he makes the wrong call and the team loses, he done.

When he gets even average game-manager type play from QB he has an absurd winning percentage, period.  That's the only reason the team isn't staring at 7 consecutive playoff seasons.

Stop pretending to be an idiot. We actually have a complete team this season.

Ron has two COTY awards with Cam as his qb, has won more games with Cam than any other coach in Panthers history.

Allen hasn’t beaten a legit playoff contender yet and they aren’t asking him to do much. Let’s see what he does if/when he goes up against a really good team where he has to be more than just a game manager

That’s my point tho. I agree that Kyle isn’t being asked to do too much. Which is why technically he’s a better scheme fit. The offense is far more dangerous and electric with Cam, but that’s not necessarily good for the defense. Cam doesn’t play well in the slow methodical offense. I’d love to get Cam with a different coach but I don’t think Cam fits in with what Ron wants to do.

Fair assessment. Can’t stand that we wasted Cam’s career so far under Ron and I’m unhappy we’re having to settle for the sub-par coach and game manager rather than the innovative coach and game changer QB, but since we’re where we are, I don’t disagree with your logic.

Football is just almost a laughably cruel game isn't it.

Ron rides Cam's ass into the ground, Kyle Allen comes in and seems to be on his way to saving Ron's job, Cam is now the odd man out.

Or perhaps Ron has never been given fair credit around here. Perhaps we have given players like Cam and Luke a little too much praise for our success and Ron a little too much blame for our shortcomings...

Nah, I’m sure Ron has nothing at all to do with this winning streak. Luke and Cam are still carrying him to our wins... somehow.
