My Jake theory

His passes are terribly inaccurate for an NFL level QB, even in the short range... where arm strength doesn't mean much at all.

Watch cutler throw a 20 yard pass, and then watch Jake or someone like Pennington throw the same pass. You will see what people mean when they refer to a strong arm.

I really think the game plan was to start the season with the opening ass whooping and go 2-4 so we could watch Jake have his second coming against Arizona..............he will throw for 38-42, 460 yards tomorrow, 4 TDs, no interceptions.................

Our system needs an accurate game managing mistake free quarterback who can get the ball down field to Smith when necessary. Jake is not that. Even if we win today, even if we win next week. Jake will eventually kill this season whether it be a playoff game or the rest of the season.

We don't even need mistake free. All we need is someone who can hand the ball off and get it to the open receiver 90% of the time.

Tape does not lie. NFC Playbook and several other shows have dissected Delhomme's passing plays, his missing the open receivers, his slow delivery, and his inability to hit the passing window at the time he needs to hit it, hence causing interceptions, tipped balls and the rest.

Blaming the receivers is not correct. Are they perfect 'no', but they would have to be 12' tall with a 10' veritical jump and 10' horizontal reach, or contortionists to catch half of the balls Delhomme throws.

Delhomme's arm is gone, that arm has been going for awhile and our FO ignored it; so, here we are, with people posting to this board trying to come up with JFK like conspiracy theories as to what is wrong with the team. Put Joe Flacco, or Carson Palmer, or even Chad Henne on this team and see if there is a difference, you know, a QB who can complete a pass in the 4 seconds it takes to complete one.

Delhomme did good things for this franchise for many years; but, those years are gone. We should thank him as fans for all he has done. He should take his $20 million and ride into the sunset. It is not his fault that the GM, the Coach, and of course, the owner, agreed to do what they did for him.

Let me say too, even if by some miracle the Panthers win Sunday, even if Delhomme has one of those rare performances, that are becoming rarer, this is his last year, and needs to be, for the good of the franchise.

Last year, Jake throttled back and didn't take chances because he didn't trust his arm after the surgery.

After the Oakland and Arizona debacles last year, he was determined to prove everyone wrong, taking more chances this year. Moose and Smitty no longer bail him out on some of his throws (we've seen each tip balls and not try to break up interceptions) and Smitty is no longer happy in the offense because it's so run-heavy (in theory). So Jake is out there trying to do too much by himself.

If the team gives him a gameplan similar to the one they used at Atlanta, the Panthers will beat the Cardinals. And Jake will look good as they do it.

don't make the mistake of blaming jake's bad games on the WR's not making plays on poorly thrown balls and not bailing him out. jake's problems are mostly his own fault. the fact that it is even MENTIONED that he needs to be "bailed out" by the WR's says alot about his play.

I don't think that's entirely true. David Carr was an attempt to add young talent behind Jake. Bad decision in hindsight sure but at the time many people thought he would replace Jake that season. Hardly ignoring the position.
