this...the guy writing the article is a moron. we are 3-2 because we had 2 stupid fumbles against the Rams and because Cam was playing on 1 foot against the Bucs. at no point have we played a game so far where we were simply outclassed or outtalented

The author genuinely may not know football very well. Five Thirty Eight is a site specializing in statistics, not sports.

I don’t disagree about the awards for the most part. Surrounding players and coaches all play a huge part in an individual player’s success. Does Matt Ryan ever win an MVP without Julio and Shanahan and an elite OL? Does Ron ever win a coach of the year without Cam? I don’t know but the awards don’t really mean a ton. Brees, as much as I hate him as a rival, not winning an MVP is kinda ridiculous.

I'm in the minority when it comes to tossing out Pro Bowls, All Pros, Wins, and Rings when breaking down how good or not a play really is....especially at QB.  I get that's what the national media focuses on, but it's pretty stupid honestly.

I think All Pros are a legitimate metric but agree on the others. All Pro unlike MVP or DPOY puts players at the same position up against each other where you can definitely make a comparison. There’s no way at all to compare a RB like McC to a QB like Mahomes and say one should deserve MVP/OPOY over the other. It’s silly.

Pro Bowls could be legit like All Pro except for the fan voting which makes it pointless.

With 53 guys on a team, no single player can impact the game so much that they get credit for wins or rings. It’s just completely stupid. Brady is a great QB in Belichick’s system, but I’ve honestly never been afraid to play him like I have with guys like Rodgers, Brees, Manning, hell even Russell Wilson. I don’t take anyone seriously when their argument for why Brady is the best QB is rings. Rodgers and Manning and Brees among others are all better, and make insane plays on the regular that Brady could never make. And I’ve watched them all play a lot.

Well usually, not always, when a running back is on track for 2000 yards the team sucks overall.

its just true.

how many teams have won a Super Bowl in the same year someone broke a record for the most rushing yards?

Denver didn’t the year Terrell Davis did.
Barry Sanders never, Eric Dickerson, Chris Johnson,.. keep going.

pretty much never happens.

I’d have to double check but I’m 99% sure that no QB that led the league in passing yards has ever won a Super Bowl. Like literally 0-53.

At anytime you have expected points (EP). If you have first and 10 from the opponents 20 you might have an EP of 3.5 for the drive - you expect to end up with 3.5 points on average. If you run the ball 8 yards for 2nd and 2 from the twelve your EP is probably going up to say 4.0. That play gave you and expected points added of .5.

You can then say what is the expected points added for all our running plays, or passing plays or whatever you want. EPA on third down, EPA in the 4th quarter, EPA when Cam rolls right.

They article is saying that CMC's EPA on running plays is negative somehow.

A for effort. But that was of no help to me. lol

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
