I don’t want Hurts, personally. Lincoln Riley makes QBs look great. If he isn’t around they regress. Look at how Baker Mayfield has come to the NFL. He surprised people year 1 and now a full year+ removed from Riley he looks awful.

Murray looks to be similar. He gets to throw a ton but would anybody say he’s killing it in the nfl? I’d bet next year he regresses similar to Baker.

2 guys who were heisman sand first overall picks. Hurts wasn’t an NFL QB when at Bama. Riley gets a hold of him and he looks amazing and possible Heisman candidate just like the other two. Until further notice it’s buyer beware for me when it comes to Oklahoma QBs.

I liked how he looked at Alabama too FWIW

If I had your take on his Alabama play I would be sold too man. It’s cool we can share different opinions without calling each other idiots. Sometimes the huddle is nice!

Have y’all watch the FS from LSU y’all complain about our tackling now if we get him the y’all gonna have a headache. He small as hell for that position . I seen em her truck twice by a slot wr in the Texas game

I don’t know anything about him but if he’s an elite coverage centerfield FS then I could handle missed tackles with that.

This is true . He has a lot of hype but the games I’ve seen of him he didn’t stand out or make and impact play so idk . But we will still ima watch him a lil more cause everybody swear by him being good good

I heard that besides the top 5 OLmen on their board, they viewed the rest as no better than street free agents.

Matsko is an true old school guy and very hard on rookie OLmen, but it seems this year he had to change some with 2 on the team.

You know, I always hear about how good Matsko is but we have not had the kind of OL that I would expect from having some kind of OL coaching savant. I am starting to believe he is just another in a long line of underwhelming Ron assistants.

I can’t speak to his abilities as a coach but he’s not necessarily working with savants either.

Yeah and maybe that is part of it. I just keep hearing about how good of an OL coach he is but he doesn't seem to be getting any more than normal out of a bunch of mediocre offensive linemen.

WR is a good consideration for where the pick is. Alot of OLs excel over time that are picked in the 2nd-3rd round. Unless the cream of the crop is sitting there when we pick, we need to take pressure off of CMac with a legit pro receiver, who will only make Moore and Samuels look better.

So, I love the draft and all the scouting/analysis that goes into it but I'm absolutely floored regarding what the "experts" are saying about our beloved Panthers. Maybe I'm missing something but a lot of them keep picking a Wide Receiver for the Panthers in the first round. CBS has us taking a corner (something I wouldn't love or hate) which would be nice to slide Jackson into the slot and have Bradberry and a first round talent as your bookends of the secondary. Another site has us taking a DT.

My question is this, if we're picking around 16th (current projection) who do you take or at the very least what position should be addressed?

I think OL has to be our top priority, followed by Safety, and then DL or WR. While we haven't been making splashes in Free Agency, I would like to see us address WR through the FA route instead of taking another one early in the 2020 draft. The only wide receiver that I think is a first round quality without any doubts is Jerry Jeudy (yet another talent from the Turds of Tuscaloosa). He looks better than Calvin Ridley coming out of college.

If there's anyway we could use our first round pick on a OL and trade up to get Derrick Brown for a DT we'd be sitting pretty.

So much depends on free agency.  Do we re-sign McCoy?   DT is going to be a huge need.

About OL---Little's second concussion and Williams' implosion makes LT look like the biggest need by a long shot.  Little could be fine in the long term, but playing the same position Oher played is not lost on anyone.

Of course, the "glass half full" perspective moves Williams to reserve RT or cutting him while allowing Little and Daley to compete for the LT job.  Daley had some moments last week---this week will be a good indicator.

After doing a bunch of draft simulations, with our current draft spot, I almost always end up going WR or CB. Unless one of three DL fall to us (Brown, Kinlaw, Davis) and even then it would come down to who the staff views as the Best Player Available. Right now I think Tee Higgins might be a good fit and he consistently falls to me in the mock draft.

Higgins is 6'4" 215 lbs. and he might slip in the draft due to a lack of productivity (still has 500 yards and 3 touchdowns) with Clemson's pass game not being up to the previous season's standards. He does have an average of 23 yards per catch right now and could be an excellent compliment to DJ and Samuel. Plus, he's a somewhat local guy for the Panthers.

I would prefer that we handle WR in Free Agency but if we don't I like Higgins as the pick. OL needs to either be addressed through trades or Free Agency or we need to trade back and collect more 2nd/3rd round picks if that's a focus.

Corner would be amazing. I've said it a few times on here but a solid 1st round corner would allow us to slide Jackson into the slot (where I think he would thrive) and worst case would make the Bradberry signing less stressful (though still important).

That game and the next one were the first time he's looked like a poor tackler in his career, so until he misses tackles all season long I'm not sure many scouts will worry about it. But its definitely something people are looking at now especially with the way McKinney tackles and covers.

poo Ryan Clark did a whole segment about people overreacting to Delpit missing tackles in back to back weeks when its never been a concern with his game.
