A long FG is blockable because you drive the bottom third of the ball.  On a shorter FG, you drive the bottom quarter.  Like the difference between a seven iron and a three iron.   Three irons are lower.

 

A big leg kicker with that percentage will kick for a decade in the NFL.  Hope that is the case.
