SMH. Do you really think they will cut him now? That’s my point. Cap hit is $20M, dead cap is $17M. I know I proposed cutting him before this year but wasn’t pissed because it didn’t save much this year, it was just a bundle in 2020. I wish we had since we’ve wasted enough already and he’s not going to be any better in 2020 especially since we will keep him now. We didn’t draft any interior DL so we are stuck with paying him $14M more and still having $11M I’m dead cap after 2020.

Yea, I really do think there is a chance we cut him.  He hasn't played well in years.  We could easily cut him post June 1 so we only have 6 million dead, and pay Gerald McCoy who has at least looked like he has SOMETHING left.

What are you planning on doing with that other 11M?

Pay someone else?  McCoy?  Bradberry?  Thompson?  Anyone?  KK hasn't produced in years, certainly not at the level his salary indicates he should.

I’m talking about the 11M left of guaranteed money that we are still responsible for when we cut him after the season?

Here’s 2015-17 and he was still a top 20 DT last year. But he was on a decline. Which is exactly why you don’t kick the can down the road on a 30 yo DT

Bradberry obviously. Close to max contract. Shaq, not max hell no, but a decent contract? We’ll see how the season plays out.

Shaq's getting the max from somebody or tagged. The ringer did an entire article about the future of nfl defenses and how having players like Shaq Thompson are the key.

Add in a weak lb draft(2 of top 3 prospects tore ACL) and teams like the giants will back the truck up to his door.

IMO both are retained even if one has to be tagged first.

Got a link to that article? Sounds like an interesting take.

I have always intuitively seen the potential in Thompson..

just needed the role and the reps.. I love you TD, but picking up thompsons 5th year was the right choice..  He was a MLB trying to be productive as a OLB behind an Iconic Panther...   thats tough

Hes a starting MLB in a 3-4 and hes a FU(C)KIN STUD
